think its becuase, whatever way you look at it, playing on DAoC is a big part of anyones life. even if it was for a year.
i know i put 70 days of play time into my nightshade. 70 days! thats a hell of a lot. in that time i made friends, not so many enemies that im aware of, so i guess for those 5 years it was a big part of my life. however sad that sounds, its the truth for the majority of players.

I've got like 200 days on pala i guess :p Guessing maybe somewhere around 350-450 days total on all my chars. It adds up quite fast! Though I haven't really checked this in a while!

Used to care when i thought Dyvet still had a chance, maybe a year ago, GOA soon put an end to anyones dreams of life being breathed back into the server and confirmed that they aren't capable of managing an online community. Gave up caring about DAOC when I started playing WoW properly.

The reason i cared at the time was because it was the best MMO around.

I can agree it was and still is the best game ever, I play on Lamorak
now and now the fun in playing have come back again.

Though I miss my chars on Dyvet and all friends friend and foe included

Despite all our differences here we can all agree that it was and in a way still is the best game out there.

I still care cause the game was so damn addictive, looking back i would say i wasted a lot of time looking at my screen, but then again i talked to alot of really funny guys, even met a few of them. Though i am proud to say i have been clean for almost 3 months now, i still miss the persons i played with and against, and that is why i keep checking FH. To see if anyone i know happens to post something i can relate to. Afterall a silly game was where i spent loads of my time for close to 4 years and it is hard to just leave that part of my past behind.
/wave to any mates i had the fortune of chatting to :D

What other games beside the ones you have mentioned did you play?

Only one other than the ones mentioned. EVE. But none of the other games have had a good pvp part. They have had other bonuses as mentioned, but at the end of the day for the vast majority - its the pvp that will be most important.

i think its pretty funny to read rvr discussion, most people eventually realise how much time they are really wasting on spouting bullshit (like me after 4 years) - but some just keep on going and going. :eek7:

also, i guess reading the forum became a routine for many, read a few threads while waiting for the many things you have to wait on in daoc. waiting on the pad = 1-10 mins forumtime! and as with any things you do regularly, it becomes a habit

Personally i think this was a good community, sure people argued and whinged a lot, but in mmorpg terms it was pretty sociable.

Last 2-3 years it has all been about playing with my friends, most of who I have been playing with for 4-5 years now. It's a good escape from the pressures of the real world, get together with like minded people, have a lot of fun and laughs and slaughter albs by the bucketload :)
