Why do people defend the ck?

Just a question / thought I had.

Since the introduction of reward medals for taking the ck (provided it has been held for 45 min). Why do we defend it?

Surely the best plan is to let the enemy take it, then wait for 45 min and take it back again. This way more of us get medals

Of course I can understand not wanting to the let enemy get medals by taking the ck away from you, but then if nobody takes the ck then your fellow realm mates cannot get a medal for taking it back..

So I propose don't defend the ck, don't waste money upgrading and repairing the doors, just let it change hands regularly, saves everyone cash and hassle

You defend the ck because its fun and part of the game, imo doing what you suggest is the worst rp whoring style of thing you can do. Just takes all the fun out of the game in your drive to reach 10L10

woh, soo much emotion, I am not an rp whore (look at sig RR3 and it's taken me for ages because I mostly do keep takes not random zerging) just an interesting observation.

given the rp hornyness of all peeps on excal I was surprised nobody else had said thats all.

Plus it gets boring after a while defending keep or attacking it, nice to have a change every now and again

Edit: personally my favorite is being camped in atk because you just port in and find the enemy to kill straight away, that and the added satisfaction of them getting too close and being 1-shot bolted by the wizards

U albs have been very very close on several occasions to taking the keep,its just atm mids in bg3 seem to be some good peeps knowing how to play, having some fun and enjoying the fights.Some are rp horney but thats the ones that want to get to 50 asap it seems.Good fights are what i play this game for and u albs lately havent dissappointed me /salute 2 u all

I had a great time defending the keep in BG1 last night with my archer. Things didn't look good at times and albs got pretty close but we managed to hold them off.

I often have the must fun in the BG's taking and defending keeps, nothing like capturing a keep after a few hours of banging on the doors and catapulting stones all over the place

sorry that was more than a little harsh, i guess i got out of the wrong side of the bed i just feel bgs is one of the few places where people can take a break from the xp/rp grind and have fun for a bit and keep defence/takes are usually the best time for it

hehe i was one of the albs trying to take the keep, but the 5 hunters guarding the CK walls for hours did the trick and many of us left due to that fact
it is nice to try to take a defended keep but it can be a bit TOO defended which took away the Fun for many of us

problem is .. the realm who got CK tend to rule the BG

Plus defending the ck is sometimes the only time when certain classes get the best outa the chars.Ispent a few hous lastnight on prydwen server in bg0 with my void eldrich Gabbi and it was the best fun ive had ina long time with that char.Gabbi has GTAOE void spells which are hard to use in normal running round fights as they must get set up,targetted etc etc but in keep defense i just place it and let the alb hoardes run on2 it.I defended the keep on my own with that gtaoe for about 30 mins until help arrived in the form of the shroom expert animist
