Our Galaxy is 100,000 light years across, contains around 250 BILLION stars (how many of those have solar systems? how many of those planets harbour life?). It takes our solar system a quarter of a billion years to orbit the galaxy. The sun is 25,000 light years from the supermassive black hole at its centre
