Who/what is Rysa?

Ok peeps. Question time. :)

I was walking around connacht with an alt, at the place where the windghouls/amadans spawn and it was night so I was being just a little careful ( she is only lvl 9 :)) when i almost right right into a female Highlander! Damn I almost died of a heart attack!
Then I looked a bit closer and she was sort of ghost-like and neutral to me, so i thought 'Ah what the hell..first death' and all that rubbish and went to speak to her. All I got was 'It seems Rysa wants to speak to you, but no words come out of her mouth..'

WTF? I have never seen her before, have no idea what she is there for, and can't find any mention of her on catacombs or allakazam. Any ideas???

Either a quest mob or an event I reckon. I haven't been up there in ages though.

As far as i know, these mobs are class specific, there is another in odins, and another near Druim Cain.
The one at Druim Cain only speaks to bards afaik.
Im not sure what the one in connacht and odins speaks to :(

I can confirm that there is a NPC by the glaciergiant now that atleast I havent seen there before. Comming from the hib PK she is at the left side of the road close to the giant.

I saw rysa last night with my alt bard. Was so busy wondering what she was i forgot i was a lowbie and ran into an amadan touched, ooops.:(

I saw Rysa also when alting my BM - and wondered what she was...but no-one seemed to know heh :D

all these npcs seem to speak to bards only
here is what they say, word for word.

"Because of the 'Father of the Monsters' mistake, the dead slave gave birth and fled into the
frozen lands of 'Wolfwheat'. By the displeasure of the 'irons', he who lives beyond the 'yawning rock'
must take it back and, once again, lock in my d"

hmm Frozen lands would be Midgard?

Yawning rock would be the GG (sure I've seen him yawn before)

Yap thats what i thought too, tried to speak to him and all, nothing happened, so i got a group quickly and ganked him, he dropped 1 gold and silvers, nothing more, none of the npcs said anything after that either (Frusa/Snuva/Rysa). Me/festima/icebreaker went to alb too find maybe 1 more guy there, but nothing.

Hmm strange - and what about that rumours of that new NPC near the GG? Maybe thats the person you are searching for?

@Less: I dont die that often but im stuck to 35 for ages now :p

The thing that bothers me about Rysa is that, if it is an 'event NPC', which she probably is, she is obviously bugged as the sentence stops suddenly in a 'd'... If and when GOA starts with events, they might want to concentrate a bit more in making them work swiftly and correctly, otherwise, what's the point?

I would guess that the only reason the NPCs talk to bards is due to bards being the ancient Celtic Lorekeepers (storytellers and historians).

If we call at the rest -

Father of the Monsters - dunno

the dead slave gave birth and fled into the frozen lands of 'Wolfwheat' - looking for an undead person possibly in midgard

By the displeasure of the 'irons', he who lives beyond the 'yawning rock' must take it back and, once again, lock in my d - someone who lives past a yawning rock (Glacier Giant) must recieve something?

On a different note, whilst on a trip in Sheeroe we were ganking kelegur and a named Glimmerling (called Glimmerling with capital G) walked up to us and said 'huh too many' or something along those lines.

I'm sure this NPC just a piece of background decoration for something bigger that is on the way. If the NPC only talks to bards, then that's a nice bit of role playing consistency, not a call to nerf bards. :rolleyes:

I did wonder what that was... never spoke to her tho... she wouldnt speak to my warden so i didnt think of tryin a bard hehe... maybe i gotta use my 24 bard a bit more often out of the bg:)

Well that didnt do much except I got to see a cool freezing spell animation

Both Rysa or that other chick in mid said the same thing.. :7)

What should we do about this, slay the GG??
Btw is it only hib bards that can talk to them or can the other realms musicians talk to them to? (of course only the mid frontier one)

The Glacier Giant has been well and truly slain since these apparitions... appeared, and nothing extraordinary happened.

Whatever the next step will be, that isn't it.

Don't you guys think it's a bit unusual for there to be nothing on the US sites about this though? They are a few patches in front of us after all.....

Wouldn't it be cool if WE could work this one out :clap:

P.S. Couldnt a 'Yawning Rock' be a cave? Just a suggestion

Maybe this is the way for GOA to ask for some forgiveness? They do have the power to make events that hasnt appeared on the US servers..

Hmm Cave.. gonna have to think about that, maybe its the Not working entrance in Lough Gur (altho thats not in Mid so..)

This is not a quest that is part of the US game created by Mythic, this is the beginning of a campaign created by the GOA event team that is being run on the European servers only. Which unfortunately also helps explain the rather cryptic message that Rysa is giving out to bards... it's a not-very-good translation from french. :rolleyes:

I have just found another character that says "she loks like she wants to speak to you, but no words come out of her mouth", her name is Fuasa, and she's found infront of the well where the Empyrean elders and overseers are found. (up the right hand hill as ur facing DC)

She wouldnt talk to a 47 hero, so maybe some others fancy taking a trip there to see if she'll speak to you.

Ok German rumours say it has something to do with the upcoming patchand with darkness falls.....

The father of the Monsters could be legion



@Garax: This women is part of a quest i think i saw her some weeks ago....
