Except the poll is about who is the better entertainer, both of whom are lightyears ahead of anyone since.

Having seen MJ live in concert several times on Bad Tour of the UK i would have to say him but that it is a bit biased as i never saw FM live.

I don't care about their personal lives. Both of them phenomenal. Michael Jackson was in his prime the world's biggest superstar, but for me Freddie was the better on-stage entertainer by a long shot.

Freddie ftw. I never really saw the appeal of MJ. I hear lots of kids did though. ;)

It's largely down to personal taste with this one, I don't enjoy Queen songs as much, so I'd go with MJ. I'd guess ethnic background will play a large role in this poll as well. Most posters here are white (going by the pics I've seen of them), so I'd guess MJ will get less votes than Freddy. If there were more black posters here, then MJ would win by a landslide.

lol Chet I would not say that MJs colour has anything to do at all with my disliking of him...actually the music of his that I really like was when he actually was black; when he started to lose all appeal for me was when he went all weird and surreal and I no longer enjoyed his music. In his later life he just got annoying and embarrassing and I could not bear to listen to or watch him.

Freddie M on the other hand, there is not a single song of his that I don't like..and he was of Persian ethnicity afaik so again nothing to do with white bias here either, I think he was totally original and funny and clever with it, whereas MJ came across (to me anyway) as trying desperately to be just plain odd.

I grew up listening to and enjoying both these guys (MJ only up to moonwalker though) and maybe if FM hasn't died when he did he might of gotten weird and annoying too?

It really does Ez, the majority of black people will regard him as a legend. Not just because he was black, but because of the style of music too.

i dont think ch3t means skin colour specifically, more that michael jackson being black, he made r&b which is predominately black, same sort of thing with mercury and Queen and rock with white folk

Ok so black people may think of him as a legend but me not feeling that way has nothing to do with (omg I cannot believe I am going to say this...) whether he was black or white *shakes head* that made me feel bad just typing it rofl!

Most of my fave music is jazz, blues, motown, soul, funk...pretty much all black influenced/developed music whether performed by white people or black people. And I don't just like it because of its ethnic origins, it's just great...I also really like country and classical music which for the most part is composed and performed by white people.

I like what I like and I would hate for anyone to think that my feelings are influenced by the colour of my skin; a bit like when black people were advocating voting for Obama, people were saying 'pfft they only want him because he is black' I think that is one of the most insulting things you can say about peoples choices and feelings is that they are based on such a superficial level.

Cor blimey lol! Sorry, essay there hehe!!

James Brown > Micheal Jackson everytime, Jacko was great but I do think the press talk him up far too much.

considering the number of record sold they don't really talk him up tbh :p

i'd go with James Brown as well myself, not just because i prefer his music but because his stage presence is epic

I will take James Brown's 50+ year career over Jacko's 1980's dominance any day but I know where you are coming from. ;) Oh and yep, his stage presence is just extrodinary.

amazing singers but not necessary great "entertainers" in the same way as Wacko Jackson and Freddiebumbandit Mercury
