Noticed i had some pain in my throat, and all of the sudden i catched a big cold.. oh how unfortunate. But.. there is one thing that can counter a cold, and its called Whiskey my friends. I was desperate, needed to go downtown for some reason and felt like sh*t, so i drank a small glass of whiskey, and voila.. gained +50 % cold resistance and feeling so much better, even after a a few hours. The cold was clogging up in my nostrils aswell (spell check?) but feeling much better afterall. Anyone else tried this, as i can strongly recommend this treatment! (no im not an alcoholist)

Hope it was that lovely Irish Scotch that Olgaline loves to drink :D

Yees. Nothing wrong with Whisky, but do try and write it without the e, as it's no longer done so in the..umm...land of Ireland? Was, but not for a while now anymore as Scotland trademarked the letter e.

Anyhoo. Whisk(e)y is good, bourbon with some form of stuff in it, prefer a scottish one, but that failing, irish is my number two choice.

Everything else, canadian or even japanese, is only for certain situations.

By the way i think you mean "I'm not an alcoholic", alcoholist sounds like some sort of a superpower :D

surely Irish Scotch is a contradiction right off?

Exactly. It's an old joke, about an old thread, and not really funny. So it's a three for three :D

But, i felt like i had super powers when i drank that stuff..... I got the power to defy Cold!!

Ooh yes. Other super powers include "Think i got a chance"'ism, and "It's a bit wobbly today".

What it did not do is remove the stench under ones arm... and did not give the power to defy gravity...

Well alcohol expands your bloodstreams making more blood pass through your veins which is good if youre trying to get rid of an infection...

At least thats my theory! :D

Maybe the cold you had was not so bad cause there is no way whiskey could cure it:D

I can't drink Whisky anymore unless Im reallllly in the mood for it :(

My Brother in Law used to own a restaurant once, I sat at the bar with him one night and went through every whisky optic he had (he had some nice ones and I was quite into whisky at the time).

I then apparently, sat at the bar with various people for the next 2 hours holding quite lucid debates about politics etc before going to bed and then getting up an hour later and wandering around the rooms upstairs butt naked and trying to get back into the bar again........cant remember any of it and felt bloody awful the next day. Havent really touched whisky since.

With a cold, you really need to pass it onto someone else as quickly as you can. Its only fair. Why should you hog all the fun ?

makes me think of the tip a friend of mine got from a drunk while waiting for the buss, he had the sniffles at the time and the drunk told him to go get a bottle of whiskey, take a table spoon and warm up it then drink it, and once that was done, empty the bottle...

my friend was 13 years old

There is apparently, the reason why he probably felt a bit better (besides feeling a little tipsy) is due to the alcohol content of this stuff possibly killing the bacteria in the back of the throat, basically acting like a cleaning agent of sorts.

mix whiskey!? weirdo :)

Have to agree with this.

You only mix whisk(e)y in two cases:

It's bourbon(as normal people call that whiskey too). Jack, jim, whatnot.

It's aired out cheap stuff. It's just a bit rancid after a day or two after opening. In other words, bourbon :D

Anyone who says they're a whisky drinker and yet mixes it with anything is:

  1. Not a whisky drinker
  2. Has no taste
  3. Has no respect
  4. Should not be drinking whisky

And YES, I use WHISKY because I fucking hate Irish whiskey.

LONG LIVE SCOTCH!

Damn, i mixed it up earlier. Must've been the whisky talking.

Ireland had the e in it for..umm..easy? :D

Though i got it half right, scotland did "trademark" the e, but rather the lack of it.
