Which Weapon?

So at some point i want a warrior. (A kobold shield warrior)

Which weapon, (sword/axe/hammer) provides the best options in the RvR endgame?

Playing mainly casters has left my knowledge of the higher end styles, and style chains somewhat lacking.

Those warriors out there...

What weapon do you use?
Which styles do you find you use the most in RvR?
Do you wish you could respec to a different weapon?
Would you advise the balanced weapon/shield/parry spec?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Same use axe, i use havoc & tyr's fury in rvr and pve if they try to run i do evernight and artic rift witch are backstyles that chain.

Ragnarok, 50 Sword style (back position) is the most damaging style out of the 3 Warrior weapon lines.

Axe has the best 2 chain combos named Havoc/Tyr's front pos and Evernite/Arctic Rift Back pos.

I would go Axe or Sword based on personal Preference really

i loved the lvl 50 axe style when I was a 2H thane

could smack chain users for over 500 dmg easily
And its very easy to use, since its requirement is a front poitional style

i was 50 sword from lvl 1>50 and then 5 months
Ive respecced to axe now and....

Axe styles use a hell of alot of end i dont care what people say
with a 3.0 dwarf short i could block/parry chain a mob to death
with a 2.9 bearded and the tyrs might front combo u r OOE in a few swings.

ragnarok is very very very very goog and polar rift as an anytime is also quite tasty, dueling with sword is nice 3 chain from block 3 from parry. i did waste alot of people
axe is mainly taunt as anytime and artic from rear same as really..

Sword Taunt style for PvE also rubbish i mean u simply cannot draw off aggro from axe/hammer usesers

to be honest i was gutted when i fisrt respecced into axe but now after alot of playing it smuch the same really, warriors dont exactly kill people in rvr so i wouldnt worry

do u prefer to spin when u do a style (looks cool as a troll) or do a little off hand flick with the axe

errr 26%slash +10chain is 36% +racial damn man i dont think i hit a target in armour for 500 ever lol usuall 2h hits for 2h axe on a mid chain user is like 220

capped 300 str i think i hit for about 350

Very easy to use in PvE. If you want a easy style to pull off in RvR you should go for a Behind positonal style

yes but the casters, healers, cc'ers etc wont stick to you and they are kinda the one that needs to be deaded

I think you can't go wrong with a warrior. Every weapon has good styles. But If you are going for 50 weapon. I'd take axe. For all classes that are not going for 50 weapon its Hammer. Since hammer has quite crappy level 50 style compared to others, but rest of the styles are great.

Hammer:
Provoke. low end taunt style. You can hit forever with it.
Conquer->Sledgehammer. A chain that starts with a behind opener
Revenge->Thor's answer->Mjollnirs Fury 3 hit chains with a 7sec stun, opening is a block.
Lambast, a style with parry opening.

Axe:
Evernight->Arctic Rift, chain that opens from behind
Havoc->Tyr's Fury, best chain in a duel imo. Opening is in front. Fury is level 50 style with nice damage.

Sword:
Imo Ragnarok is the only great sword style. Great for rvr, but sword lacks those styles that are great in pve, like Provoke or Havoc->Tyr's fury

Warrior using 2h axe can do nice damage (500) but a warriors role in a t33m in not to kill imo.
Do assist slam let berserks savage kill fast slam next ect. What warriors can do for a group is getting nice RAs like prevent flight trip grapple having problem pelling seers think not then.

let me point you to this old screenie i took a while ago ;p

note the arctic rift style ;p

that was pre-SC though so will prolly drop down to just under 500 dmg after resists.

but still not bad for a 2h slash weapon against chain armour bare in mind that alb chain is neutral to our slash weapons so max resist possible is 26%+racial resist.. so 29% for a briton.

but that was when buffed with capped qui on my warrior. imagine what it would be like with 50 qui. besides taking forever to swing twice i think the dmg would be insane tbh

A 50 back positional, combined with shield slams sounds good to me.


(And Smurfs always look better with swords anyway)

You could always rip off one of Kalgarn's legs and use that as your weapon.. would make a satisfying wet splatting sound when used on Tincans....

Plus you'd be able to nibble on it if you got hungry!

I found on my sb that, Ragnarok is very nice when their running away(who runs from a cb? ;P )

The Polar Rift style, I don't tend to use, OOE fast, and doesn't really have any bonus/effect stuff. So I use the Assault combo mainly.


The 50axe style, I have hit for 579 using it on my zerkso its kinda nice


Don't know about hammer really, only a BG thane with it.

Axe or hammer. Had sword specced to 50 myself. Ragnarok is ok, but by far a style you can rely on. Shortly they say that hammers has the best reactive styles (and taunt), and axe has the best positionals. I wouldn't advice sword as it don't even have a to-hit bonus on the taunt style (I suspect it will get it in the revise-midgard patch later on tho).

Always max weapon to negate enemy defences.

I have a L20 valk hammer shield warrior and the only thing i dont like is the ahmmer styles. yawn.

i block a LOT tho. High dex, Str and Con comes from items.

axe is a must for warr imo, and i know cuz i switched, first of all, normal combo style of sword isnt good, axe combo is much better, 2nd, axe block/parry reactionary styles are imo better, and 3rd, axe 16.5dps weapon is 4.0speed, while sword is 3.0speed, which means sword dmg output is crap if you want 16.5dps

Kobby > all imo for defence, they got same dex and more con than Valk's. I'm axe atm, I wana respec to hammer for crush vs DF mobs cos I use the char for farming only.

Why use the first spec at all?

I was under the impression that the 42 shield style is an anytime stun. Why go all the way to 50 with shield?

Surely it would be better to have more parry?

Is the 50 shield style really worth the much lesser parry chance?

I am unsure about sword again after those few comments.

I admit, after the initial response, i chose sword based on mainly asthetics. As there didn't seem to be a general consensus that one weapon was better than another.

However, the last few replies seem to believe axe is superior to the other two.

I like the look of swords.. but... if it is going to be detrimental to my warriors performance in RvR then it's a no no.

I am not concerned about having a "gimped" character... i know enough to know a sword warrior will function.

I am howver concerned that by choosing swords, it will have a noticable impact on my little blue shield monkeys "skillz" as opposed to say axe.

Seriously - is there THAT much of a difference?

If there was then the community would ahve already decided. The camp being split means surely that tehre is less between them than say RM specs, which are almsot carved in stone.

The reason to go 50 shield is that it is more effective in RvR than 42 shield ie you will block more often. I also hear that parry doesn't work that well in PvP so best go shield not parry.

i was sword long time ago, nice styles but crap taunt, crap dmg output, crap anytime styles, so i went axe
axe, nice taunt, nice dmg output, best anytime style combo.
so axe > sword for warrior
ofc nothing stops u from going swords, but axe will be better
