I just formatted my HD and reinstalled windows but once it was all complete when I boot i get a choice of 2 operating systems to choose from ,which is weird because there was no other OS installed. This means having to select each time I boot whcih one i want. The top one works fine, but the lower one doesnt and says cant find windows or something so i want to delete this one. In the edit mode i get:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

So if i delete the lower part of the text will this solve the problem of having 2 options when I boot?
Cheers

Yes you can delete the one not in use, just make sure u get the correct one :)

You can change "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" to something else just to make sure you do have the correct one although they do list in the same order on the boot menu as they do in boot.ini

Or just confirm the default loads without u hitting enter, as it points to the top entry (the working one) it will confirm it's correct.

/EDIT Added just to clarify, i would hate to see u screw ur boot.ini

If by lower part you meant the last line then yes

This Line
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

You could just change the boot loader timeout to 0 also
