Well ToA works for me, Cata/DR is crap...

Well for effectiveness ToA works, (Ive heard that SI is even better but not sure if it works any more etc)

Cata/DR has a strange 1 second or so lag on animations when you start a spamcycle, both in melee and spellcasting, meaning that it has a tendancy to put your timing off. But it looks alot nicer if thats more important!:) And ToA has most of the nifty new stuff that has been added in the game.

I use the DR Client. Even with 150+ Enemies in the Area and all settings maxed (All shadows, AA max, Anisopblabla max) i have no bad fps or lag. And i don't have the super duper monster pc. And i run a second Account at the same time on the same machine!

Best thing you can do for Daoc is having alot of Ram!

I always use the ToA client, as it runs smooth enough, or as smooth as DAoC will run :p

Since you have everything maxed, whats you resolution? Doubt its above 1600x1200 then?

Frankly what effects you have on and off wont matter shit. What matters it the resolution.

1280x1024...thats the native resolution of my tft.But i doubt i would have problems with 1600x1200 or above if i had a monitor who could do that. The resolution doesnt change the fact that the daoc engine is too old to give pc systems of today any headache.

Well I tried running DR on full GFX in full res on my CRT monitor. Don't recal exactly was max res is, about 2***x1200 or something. Got pretty bad FPS. Then again my system has a few years on its back. 128mb ATI Radeon Pro, 3ghz p4, 1gb ram PC3200 WDC Raptor 10k rpm hdd.

I suppose a newer system could handle it? ^^

Urs could to if u had more ram on ur gfx card. Ram on gfx card = able to run higher resulotions.

ToA for me is alot more stabile, less lagg, less fps drops. Smoother all in all.

Besides I don't fancy the new DR graphics at all, looks shit imo.

cata and dr clients are fucking awefull.

I thought this when they first came out.

I thought i would give the DR client a bash, but omg the little delay u get with everything. its a tiny delay but it is like annoying. It judders more than the TOA one. The noses are awefull, sounds like closing a car down when u hit someone and the time of the noise it comes well after the strike.

using cata or dr client is a definite no go.

the TOA one is crisp and fast. simply cant believe any players would use the others to be honest.

(and its not my comp i run duel core with 2 gig ram raptor sat drives and gtx 7800)

ToA, I have only used Cata for darkspire and ToA for everything else. The game engine in Cata is terrible and so are the models.

neh, the delay is related to cata models, not the client itself. dr with classic models runs more crisp for me then toa does :p

Hmm i have the same PC components apart from the harddrive and no problems at all with it. No Delays, no lag, no bad fps while using the DR Client and having a second account running on the same pc.
