Wheres all the skalds gone?

i dont think i had 1 skald in my group from lvl 1 to lvl 50 in PvE
where did they all go?
have they been nerfed?

Like most skalds i've meet said, they have become speedbots theese day's. So think most are playing chars they have more fun with, just hope mythic gives them something in next patches 1.62+

skald is worst class in mid imo, i find it very hard to kill people solo without haveing buff, although if u find 2 rangers in odins i would say i have a better chance of killing them with my skald then thane as the mezz kinda owns them.

only thing its got going for it is insta mezz and speedso u can run from the enemy as my skald seems to get a good ole beating in every 1v1 iv had so far

only good thing about Skalds is the Speed ... unless you got a Skald yourself and are asked to get the gimp out all the time

Hate to agree, Skalds are boring to play.
So, so combat, so so abilities. The only thing they are good for is SPEED.
Need to be tuned up, made interesting somehow. Maybe an endurance regen song? That'll make them a bit more useful. Or a POW regen song.....hehehe, imagine that, poor old Healers and Shammys will have no friends.
Skalds will be the most wanted characters of all time!

Imo skalds arent that bad at all, they are group friendly chars, specialy in RvR, I have seen Ottar and Oldbone in action, and I dont think they would say they are gimped..

They are uber for killing casters, they got DDx 2/mezz/snare to interupt.

Not many mids can play skalds good in rvr, it aint easy..

Skalds aren't gimped.

They're just nothing special, except their speed song.

Average all the way, about every other class is more fun to play.

Skalds Are fun and very useful imho , yes they need a bit of jazzing up, but Speed is great, Damage add is good and they may not own everything (read anything ) but can kill casters and can tie up others.

I have noticed less and less being played though both RvR and PvE
It used to be everygroup would have a skald now it ok we move at Healer or Runie speed

Being a ranger I have to disagree. Skalds go down way faster than thanes in melee fights cause they have no real defense. Mezz is easily purged too. I'd much rather encounter a skald in a one-on-one than a thane.

wish I could get more solo fights with achers though

Think we have 5 or 6 lvl 50 skalds in our guild atm.... only 1 gets played in regular RvR (Dyna). Rest are just there for hunts, etc

so what did skalds look at other viking classes at about lvl 25 and say "Oh damn i wish i pressed Warrior/thane/Zerker on that gimp ass trainer in galpen"

how can providing Uber speed and 2 rather Nice DDs make you a gimp? combined with 2 handed (crappy mid) compared to say a mincer?

is it just everyone is wining saying we are crap cos minstrels got serious loving coming up soon?
crazy isnt it no one is happy with whatever class they roll.


surely a troll skald owns a mincer anyday of the week?

Well its all new sc armor that have made skalds loose much of the power, mezz short dur, dd's not much damage etc.

we are singing busdrivers, bad in defensice, equally weak in offensive combats and... nothing special indeed

I am still waiting for the "gods of GOA" to realize this, because they "could" be valued a bit more so they become interesting again..........

I got my skald to 42 before I realised what playing one was like, rather low hp, limited to only a slow 2hd and short mezz.

Also I've not seen much use of the resist songs surely with everyone into capping their resists lately, the extra lil bit would be handy? the DD's use alot of mana too as I've noticed watching the group mini box.

Adding shield spec, would be very nice feature of the class, but also they'd more spec points.

During leveling mine, I just kept forgetting to switch songs all the time, noticed many others do too, maybe something needs to made interesting with changing songs some how?

At 42, I was hitting for 140-190 dmg on yellow con, so their not really low dmg imo

Only thing they good at otherwise the total gimps.

So, i like the rest of the skald population went and made a alt who u could actually feel useful with/have fun with

1 on 1 maybe. But, mincers have ae mezz, SoS, Stealth etc, waaay more useful in group rvr.

And now they get phat evade and climb walls as well.


Ah well not complaining about mincer being uber or anything, just that skalds are kinda boring and u do indeed feel like a speedbot while playing them

Longer range on the mezz and a snare that lasts for a certain amount of time instead of someone else breaking it.

A unique RA like SoS and a chance to /respec race

Edit : Forgot the crappy speed dropping pulses and it could do with kicking in faster after combat too

i do to hope that GOA realizes this and do some changes that made it more interesting to play a skald

Yep My skald is in retirement because I have found my other alts far more usefull to a group and much more entertaining to play.

I'll only wheel him out if I need to get a particular item from a particluar quest for one of my alts.

He'll come out of returement when GOA tweak his bits.
