No idea Where and what to look for laptop/ultrabooks

I was just wondering if anyone had any go to places for buying laptops as I'm basically looking to get a small light laptop for studying purposes, I've currently got a massive gaming laptop which I'm going to trade-in/sell as its about 3.5 to 4 kg alone and I don't want to lumber it around all day with anything else I might need. I was looking at laptops but they seem to start off at £250-£300 where I have looked and the spec's haven't looked that impressive, hence why I mention ultrabooks as cheaper ones seems to be pretty good still.

I have a budget of up to/around £500 (maybe more if something really Ideal pops up) What I'm looking for is:
light weight
HDMI slot so I could hook it up to a monitor/tv
possibly an SSD for speed
something that can handle multiple applications so decent amount of RAM

But that particular seller is US based and the price with postage would be 480 or so, and I've not bought anything online from over seas before so will there be more customs charges etc ?

It's always a risk ordering stuff from America, there's a good chance you will have to pay duty on it. I would factor that into the price (because I've never got away without paying it) and then ordering from over there doesn't seem like such a bargain.
