Well, boys and girls I am BACK! After having not played DAoC for over two months I couldn't resist and fell back in. All my chars are still on my account and I've started playing my ment again. Think he's going to be my main *grin*

Anyway, it's really nice to be back! I'd appreciate if someone could fill in any major gaps

Oh and I noticed that GOA are getting their act together. We're up to 1.50 now which is good. Anyone know when we'll have 1.53?

Nope. Mythic are going to update the graphic engine so it'll run a LOT smoother. I stumbled upon a post on a forum made by a beta tester evaluation an early release of Shrouded Isles. He had a GF3 and got no lag in a large RvR with all effects on. Sounds promising to me

i think the point was that with the current engine, even my 1.2Ghz Athlon, with a gladiac 920 geforce 3 ends up looking like it's an onboard chip coupled with a P233. if you can get smooth framerates even jsut looking at the port pad at ligen i'll be amazed, and compared to that a large scale rvr encounter having smoothness with /effects all would be staggering in comparison.

even a geforce 2 should be seeing vast improvements.

meaning that the game will take LESS hardware to run well than it does now, so nope, you shoudlnt need to upgrade

if that is you turn the shimmery water off (which you can do, it just goes like it is now), can't see anyway of getting around that overhead without a fast card
