dont think there will be an really Open beta that any1 can join, but they will prolly do lots of stress tests wich include lots of players = they send out many keys and theres a big chance u get in and a tiny one that u dont get a key.

probably not before new year. remember, open beta is just an advanced type of promotion and last minute hype. so don't expect to see any of that until 2008.

Open beta in most mmorpg's used to be the final stress test for the servers, aim was to see how they cope with near-maxed populations before release. However, as you point out quite rightly, increasingly it does seem that it's being done for publicity as invariably what you see in open beta is actually the finished product.

But for dates, im guessing spring/early summer 2008 and probably 2 weeks before release is the "norm".

I agree with fellow tester.
Iirc Mythic said there won't be open beta as we may know from other games, that is, downloading the beta client from a webby n playing it straight. They stated that they will keep sending invites and that the last stage of beta will have a good chunk of ppl to enuff to do the stress test.
Yet again, thats their initial idea n might not be wot will finnaly happen.

Im eager to see the testers database at guild beta stage, want to play along many of the FH peeps
