When is a name not a name...??

OK, in the past I have seen two or three replies in the forums that indicate some people may dislike my name - Nobrot Skabynakker

Some history:
I bought the game and tried it for a month, created a rogue, tho I knew not what a rogue really was.. by the time my month was up, I had a lvl 1x SB that I loved to play, his name was Nobrot, so I paid my money to GOA and continued my leveling...

Now Nobby is lvl 42, and I have not had anyone in-game comment about his name, other than nice ones of amusement, which was its intent, but I am a bit concerned that if GOA think I am breaking the rules they may change it to something daft (no I dont think Nobrot is daft) or perhaps even delete him eeek.. and on top of that, I honestly would not like to genuinely offend anyone in-game, or spoil anybodies enjoyment of the game if they were to find Nobrot Skabynakker an offensive name... it is supposed to be amusing, not offensive..

So I sit-down, stealth and await the flame....

is it offensive?, and if so, anyone suggest an alternative?

I have to say I find it offensive . After all it is a genital disease tarted up to sound funny , but hey I'm an old twat , people in game do find it offensive too , you were turned down from one guild because of it iirc . Like I say that's me , lots of other people may find it hilarious , we are after all , very different from one another .

bit of an edit , after reading your post again you sound like a nice bloke , but the name "yekk" if you are reported all that will happen is you will be allowed to change your surname , if you refuse , they will change it for you , that's my understanding anyway .

Sorry you find it offensive Caelithar, and you are correct, I was turned down by a guild because of my name..., that is one event that provoked me to open this thread. Im just glad I didnt choose SaggyTits NippleSwing... but it didnt seem right for a Kobold

As far as I know we arent on a role play server, where names and so on would be policed more thoroughly. I personally dont find your name particularly offensive, more silly if anything, but it doesnt bother me to be honest.

There have been names which I have found offensive , like a hunter who had the name Inyaass Holearrow and others besides. There are daft names like Pffffffffffffffffff Fffffffffffffffffffffffft that make me laugh and Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooom was another funny one.

My alt on Excal was teamed with a guy called Magneto MaestroofMagnetism once and someone called Windbreaker Ohnooooooooooooooooo

Thankfully, truly offensive names are a rarity.

FYI I am not being narrow minded , I have children who can read this crap and would prefer they did'nt , yeah and now you can go into the ins and outs of how they hear and see it everyday and so on and so forth . His name and many others are against the CoC anyway . If they put their foot down , especially with names like "gayporn" people would think twice .

I'v seen worse names then yours (dident know what it meent till you typed it here), we might not be on a RPG server but this is after all a rpg (hench the mmorpg) and I think some people got names that turns towards being more dumb then funny. Like Pfffffffffffffffff (sorry dude cant see anything funny it it), I understod the name booooooooooooom (was it 17 o's) since you played a caster. One name you do find silly/funny is Hisdumbself, is looks funny in a deathmsg (xxx was just killed by hisdumbself) but other then that its just a lame as pffffff/boooom/ect/ect.

I'm assuming your children are going/will be going to school soon. I'm sure they hear/use many words far more offensive in nature than 'Nobrot' ffs.

The fact that Dook_Pug said that your children will hear "bad" words else where is true, and always will be. I meen I remember the faces my famaly made when a 3 year old kid said "granny what dose "Fuck you" meen?" (spoken like a 3 year old kid), this kid had picked it up in kindergarden. Not every parent is as protective with thier children as you are with yours caelithar, not saying its a bed thing being protective is a bad thing because it isent. Some parents should learn to turn of the everning news when the kids around, or just the primetime comedy shows. I even saw a cartone (dubed to danish) where they used words like "shit" and "fuck". ... Im I ranting ? ?

Well apart from the flames, this thread indicates to me that the vast majority of players do not find my SB's name offensive.
