Will i actually be able to kill people? :)

going for the 50/30/30 template.

at 42 .5 im

42+10 ins
30+5 slash

and...... (8+4 stealth :D )

At the moment i can barely scratch my opponents even those of equal level to me.

I would like to think that id be more use to my realm than merely a taxi and mana battery.

Basically need to know now wether i should stop instruments at 44 (which will leave me short of the last absorb shout) and put the points into slash.

lmao thats what i have been doing :D ( :eek: )

those dds dont half chew up the mana - hoping next patch will sort that out a bit.

answer to second question...from now on you will indeed be a speed/power/absorb bot for RvR and no it isn`t fun don`t worry though 1.60 is the buffbot patch so you can have your own personal mach5 RP cow

1st thing you should do is remove AE mez from quickbar as it`s totally useless you can leave styles on there if it makes you feel better but TBH there`s not much point
example..you hit random mid for 120 damage ..random mid turns you into a stain for 700 damage

2nd thing i`d suggest you aim to be an uber pet class go for 50 instru and charm rock hard pets i really like red con frost stallions in odin`s :D

Ive plumped for the 50/30/30 and at the moment with bonus and RR3 that makes a stat of about 55/43/43 which is great in RvR. can you kill things.... well yes... beating casters is easy with your shouts to interupt and the stun, 1.60 will only make things better there.

If you want to solo in RvR you really need to think of a SB/NS/Infil - as for a mins well hey you're pretty much going to be grouped all the time, so yes.. you can kill people, I pretty much like the 50/30/30 spec in the current patch, guess its just going to get even better in 1.60

thanks for the replies guys :)

To be honest i totally hate zerg rvr (2fg+ in my opinion) and liked the idea of being able to roam around solo and hopefully pick my targets. I really really wanted an infi but thought that the minstrel would be the next best thing and would be a damn sight easier to level. I enjoy it when we hunt as 1fg but would like the option of going solo. Maybe its time to start an infi as well with that in mind. As for buffbots, nothing against people using them but i wont be touching one.

i did notice Steveirwin kicking some ass last night and had charmed a templar as a pet. Question then is - how do you keep your pet charmed and play speed at the same time - every time i try it i lose control and it tries to twat me.

Ho hum - time to xp to 50 then start an infi :eek:

You have to twist the charm and run speed. It's just like twisting run speed and mana song (which I'm sure you've tried) but you must keep the pet targeted and charm it again after every time you play run speed. Once you've shouted the insta chant, that will stop your run speed, but it will still pulse a few times, which will give you enough time to play it again, then charm again, then play run speed again and so on. Be careful, though, it does burn through your endurance :p

Im 50/30/30 only class ive struggled with is a champ so far but then again he was prolly buffed to the teeth

50/30/30 atm and I just go for casters (or bards if my Purge is up) solo :) come the patch I'll be a bit more daring ;)

He's also kinda obsessed with trying to charm red con frost stallions in Odins. Usually he have to settle with an orange con tho. :)

No but seriously. Minstrel isnt made for doing damage. And not for stealthing. Its a group character and you have to take it for what it is. In battles you should more try to be defend your casters and mez enemy important classes. And when all of this is done. You can assist a caster or tank friend of yours. Dont take on a enemy tank with full health. Sure you might be able to kill him. In 5 minutes or so ;) The one thing(melee) minstrel is very good at is offensive caster killing. Just dd hit them. When they try to quick cast root/stun/mez you just insta stun them. Now they should be almost dead.

Other useful things. SoS obgiously. 100% equipment, Buffbot... Dont go out alone as a minstrel without one. Because the only thing you can kill without one is solo casters. And you will not find many of those.
With a buffbot I can challenge almost everything. Oh almost forgot, stun dd dd amethyst amethyst in the end so the opponent cant use ignore pain is really the minstrel trick above all others. I've killed hundreds that way. AND this will work much better tomorrow(patchday) with the longer stun.

Good luck as your minstrel. Hardest class to play in the game. You can't get good at it until you really train alot.

Spec stealth is the best way to really gimp your minstrel.
Personally, I got no stealth and 67slash. 100% equipment. Realm rank 8 and therefore a few good realm abilities for my melee damage. But even with this I have problems with many people 1on1. If you spec 50/30/30 then dont expect to solo anyone.

If your having problems killing 1 on 1 with that spec how is anyone gimping themselves by avoiding it and going for a different spec? After the next patch I'd say stealth was a must for minstrels seeing as you've just proven specing higher in slash doesnt do enough to justify it :)
