What's with these stupidly high data charges on mobiles?

I've had a poke around at a few websites and am really confused about prices for data on mobile phones.

02 seems to go as low as 75p per meg on a high usage business tarrif yet orange, as an introductory offer are able to give 1000 (yes one thousand) megs PER MONTH to new 3G users for the first 3 months. Working that out even at the lowest rate providers are offering that comes to a staggering £2,250 worth of free usage on a tarrif that could be as little as 15 quid a month. If they're able to offer deals like this, how on earth can they justify the stupid "per meg" charges that currently exist? If this was on O2's "standard" data tarrif, you'd be paying £2.35 per meg (weighing in at £7,050 worth of data usage on the Orange intro offer).

On a lighter note...I've got my Nokia 6630 now and this symbian OS is doing my head in. I keep finding stuff by accident and then can never find it again.

I went back to work after 3 days off today. Before I went my mate had a 6230i and a 6630 in his pockets. Today he had a 6680 and a 6230i. The bastard :) It's so nice, but I really need to wait for the 8800 and the N series.

Well it's available offline and on Orange. Apparently no shops have software for the 6630 or 6680 yet, so unlocking it could prove very difficult and expensive.

I've kept all the bits for my 6630 so if the 6680 appears on the 02 website at a reasonable price within the 14 day cooldown, I'll return this one and get the 6680. *crosses fingers*

Just take the cooldown option now, the software is fine on the 6680, its basically the same as the 6630. Can't see what software problems they are talking about. Could be a while before the 6680 appears on the webby, they seem to be slower to get new phones through o2online.

Hi guys

If anyone is interested, InfoSyncWorld has a review of the 6680. I believe their opinions are usually unbiassed.

They rated it 91%, the best smartphone score to date

Kind Regards

The problem there is if and when the 6680 appears I don't know how much it'll be. The 6630 cost me just 20 quid but the 6680 could well be quite a bit more than I can justify. *keeps fingers crossed some more*
