Help What's this mean? (UK NI possible changes)

Saw this in the paper and was confused.

"But NI payments charged on most workers - those earning more than £20,000 - will rise in 2011 if Labour wins re-election. That would put at least £100 on NI bills of almost half of britains working population.


Does this mean £100 over a year? or £100 a month? I apologise for being so stupid, but wanted to be sure.

Yep, but if you follow the New Labour policy of stealth taxes you can take well over £100/month more and people don't bat an eyelid

They should never be allowed to use NI as a Income-tax-by-proxy...

I didn't realise it was for those earning as littel as 20k Shit that's shocking.

They should just rename it "More tax" and be done with it. It isn't used for its original purpose anyway.

I love NI. Talk about hoodwinking the population, it just goes into the pot, and is nothing to do with the NHS or similar (which is what most people would presume).
