What the hell is with the sky on several maps (nuke, prodigy, etc). Sometimes it loads the wrong one, most times it is just white.

I get error messages about gfx files in the console on startup, is there anything I can do to fix this?

Sky Texture Problems

This is an incredibly common bug with Half-Life and mods after installing the 1.1.0.9 patch. Sometimes the sky in certain maps is white, sometimes black, sometimes the default desert sky, sometimes a random stretched texture, and sometimes no sky at all (the nasty "mirror" effect like when you noclip through walls). Fortunately, there is a workaround for the "missing" .tga files that make up the sky textures. Using a .pak explorer such as Pak Scape, open up \valve\pak0.pak in your Half-Life folder, and extract all the .tga files to \valve\gfx\env (create the \env subfolder if needed). For more help on this, try this thread, and be sure to read entire thread since there are various ways to work around the problem
