i wasnt up on new music untill i started working and now i listen to the radio for 44 hours a week.

as you can guess a lot of the stuff in a 11 hour period is played 5-10 times. sometimes 3 times in 2 hours. sometimes more than once in the same fucking show!

most of it of course is complete shite. what the hell is this scouting for girls rubbish? rock gods of old would be turning in their graves if they could hear this. weve gone from the likes of the beatles and led zeppelin, to black sabbath to bands like this, whos songs dont even make sense. half the lyrics make no fucking sense.

it isnt just rock music though, its general pop, house, rap and all the rest of it. its turning to complete shite. that maddona and timberlake farse, makes no sense, the lyrics literally do not make any sense. god knows how coldplay are the first in 37 years to make number 1 in the US and the UK, the song is garbage. maggy may is a thousand times better than anything they will come up with.

as far as clubby type stuff goes, weve gone from classics like rhythm is a dancer to cry for you. i really dont know what the artists are thinking, and never mind the complete morons who are buying the singles.

then there is the usual gwen steffani and lilly allan rip offs floating about.

i would say the only decent song out there at the moment is "wearing my rolex" but that is somewhere in the middle of the charts.

fair enough the majority of stuff you hear on the radio is utterly shite, but erm, since when has the radio ever been any good? radio sucks.
personally i love black sabbath, Led Zeppelin and pink floyd and co, but if music stayed the same, and didn't progress and change, can you imagine how monotonous it would be?
aye, i despise scouting for girls, and everything they stand for - i'd even go as far as fantasising about bashing their skulls in with a hammer, and pissing on their corpses.

but aye! anyways, go on the hunt for different bands if your not happy with the ones

im all for progression but surely that should mean the music evolves for the better. it shouldnt get worse and redefine a genre of music into something it isnt.

The radio is good - BBC6 Music is king.

Unfortunately most of the stuff they play on Radio 1 is shit. The Chris Moyles show for instance - gash. The worst offender is Jo Whiley, shit music and a horrible grating voice, a wannabe scenester at 40+ years old. Colin Murray's show at 10pm on weekdays is good though.

Ever noice that the first 30-40 seconds of ever 'Scouing for Girls' song sound exactly the same?
Most stuff they try to push out as new and revolutionary music is just crap these days, and if you chck crefully, alot of its smple and ripped off from 80's music. If you want decent music to listen to, buy a Macc Lads album and listen to that.

Also: Only reason 'cry for you' is popular is the nice tight bodied little tart in a full body pvc suit, dancing around in the video. Thats it.

True, most music is fucking shit these days, but have you seen the wankers that listen to it? Last time I went to a club the music was awful but the sheep that were there thought it was good because that is what they were told.

There is no imagination anymore, a formula works and the masses buy it, its all about advertising and merchandise now.

As for rock music, its designed for idiots that try to emulate the talentless morons that produce it, Winehouse, babyshambles etc. None of it is actually good but because people have been told its cool they say they like it.

The things is with Babyshambles was that they (The Libertines more so, but Babyshambles afterwards) were part of an awesome scene at the time. The music was great and the scene was just good fun to be part of. 'Shambles may not be slightly musically challenged but Doherty is a top top songwriter.

my opinion has no bearing (i incidently also dislike them, bar Heartbeat in small doses as the chorus is kind of catchy ><) as someone out there does like them or they wouldn't be played on the radio

same with amy whinehouse and pete DoDrugsToGetInThePaper doherty they seem to have a solid fanbase for reasons beyond my comprehension

exactly. and if you compare them to bands with talent, it makes even less sense why people like them. the lyrics are just poor, they tell a BASIC story but they ultimately do not tie together to make a lot of sense.
the music sounds like the last generic rock band.
and somehow, the singer in each generic rock band also sounds the same.

the guitarist and drummers are technically less able these days, ive not heard anything particular complex. compare a solo from generic rock band to a talented rock band and you wonder how they are making money. actually you might be pushed there, im not sure ive actually heard even a guitar solo from the latest generic rock bands.

There are still loads of bands out there but due to the sheer volume of music it is harder to sift through the ones you wont like

ill give it to you, there probably is some good bands but im just going off what i hear on the radio. that bucket head one sounds like a band i know of

music in the radio sucks if you find the usual crap station, there's dozen of good ones if you care to look. and although everything was better in the ole days (even the snow was whiter, and the women tighter) there was ALOT or crap (although i would say less crap played in the radio coz what is considered good music now from that era, was coincedently popular music).

and as Aomi, i do believe Doherty is a brillant lyricist (word?) and Babyshambles are brilliant
