What's going on here then?

I've been idle for a couple of days since the wave of "newbies" struck upon us, and these forums now span onto 3 pages of unread threads and posts - I can't say I've seen so much "action" here on such a short period of time.

Are the "newbies" that have flocked here still around, if so... why haven't some of them been banned (because they're clearly only here to provoke, and it's unsettling the entirety of the forums, and the majority of the regulars (if not all) seem very, very annoyed about this.

What's been happening, what has changed? It appears that the upyours smiley has finally gone, which is a good thing. I am quite annoyed at the time it has taken to be removed though... we (the regulars) said outright it would cause problems, and no-one liked it... but action was only taken when the serious abuse we predicted occured. Prevention is better than cure.

I'm hearing brief cries for General Moderators - what's the status on this? I don't have time to check pages and pages of threads, so if someone could fill me in I'd be most grateful... I've had a quick glance and it would appear Summo/Damini are now in the forefront? If so, I stand by this choice, along with Embattle, as they are all fair, level headed people with a good sense of humour, and have been around long enough to know what is good for the forums.

So, if someone FAMILIAR () would like to fill people in on what's happening, I'm sure a fair few people would appreciate it, not just myself.

A chap advertised his league in this forum, was promptly asked to 'fuck off'. Caused upset amongst the troops, and a fair few regulars with the reception any poster was getting, considering this was a bw hosted league. But, then a whole legion was formed to spam and abuse the forums, by which they destroyed every sense of empathy any of us had with the reception they got. Many pointless threads formed and extremely poor insults were met with ignoring *plonks*, of which through the passage of time managed to calm the situation.

This then provoked the moderator argument once again, with regulars calling for banning and deletion, Summo and Damini as you say were put up to the job alongside Embatttle. But, there are still reservations, particularly from Ted, who rightly thinks that this forum has been founded on its freedom and informal nature, of which moderation may contradict. I also expressed dismay at the idea, but there is reason to have this knee-jerk reaction in such circumstances. So we'll see how it turns out.

I think that's it. Go back to the pub now, Woomie.

u forgot to mention b4 the hlccl crew came in a thread was posted asking if people would click a button on a website to donate money to the nspcc

he was also told to fuck off and various 'cunt off and die of aids' and pictures with disabled people saying get this retard away from me were also posted.

being respectful people seeing this the hlcclers thought it was bang out of order.. and thus started a few flames and a few bollocks threads were made to test how long it would take some of the people on here to flame it.. unfortunately in most cases they were proved right in a matter of minutes



it was all a load of crap and just about over me thinks.. peace and love

I wasn't involved in that, but neither do I think the 'mature' and 'appropriate' response you talked of to such a degree, was to spam and post utterly rediculous amounts of threads. It neither did your plight or reputation any good. Your quite legitimate and just anger in this form didn't highlight the point of your cause and I personally was completely unawares of your reasoning for such abuse of the forums, so it didn't actually achieve anything.

The NSPCC thing was a bit out of order, people should read urls before going nuts on the abuse, I have no problem with someone posting that url to help out a charity, especially as it costs me no money and little time.

*sigh*, if you want to play it like that at least be accurate. One picture said 'Post crap like this and I'll kill this fuckin' kid', and the other said 'get the fuck out, no newbies'. Those were the only 'flames' made to the thread author. The posters of the pics were flamed fairly enough by other regulars, and we didn't really need your help.

Just don't try and make out that the hlccl people made all those nonsense posts/threads for any reason other than that they were all bored out of their skulls.
