Right....I gotta do a web page as part of my university course.

I'm wondering what's a good HTML package to create web pages that make simple HTML language (i'm supposed to do it manually but our lecturer doesn't care----I wan't one like this so I can understand the language myself).

anyone got any ideas? even if it's a demo download, I'm after somethng simple to create a few web pages. (I hear Microsoft frontpage is a good one).

sorry if this comes out as gibberish, I know what i mean but can't put it in words :D

firstpage 2000,

If you need to do text HTML - It creates templates of each command with every tag, you just change the settings to what you want then delete the tag's you dont !

Frontpage is more wank than a broken wank thing covered in spunk and masturbating.

Nuff said.

The MS bashing-wagon (as you put it) only rolls on because its a wank program ffs.

win2k I'm happy not to slate (its good, I'm using it)
win98 deserved slating because it was in many ways worse than win95.

frontpage is easily at the bottom of the MS wank pile.

Frontpage is not aimed at 'serious web professionals' the price tag alone shows this, understand that there is a market out there *GASP* without the skills that you have. Frontpage is a lot more intuitive to use than Dreamweaver, if you try to dispute this, you are either blind, or stupid. Admittedly, it might not be as intuitive on higher functions, but, in general, the majority of users will not be looking to use them.

Understand, it's all about target markets and relative knowledge, a UNIX guy will slate every MS OS, for the simple reasons of: lack of control; lack of stability (aparent or not); et all. Does this mean that Win2k is a bad operating system? (Bearing in mind that you have praised it?) No, not at all. Just don't be so closed minded, and assume because a package doesn't serve your needs, it is a fundamentally bad package.

but clearly frontpage is wank regardless of the market its aimed at.

anyone with any degree of intelligence would prefer something else over it, and there are countless notepad esque programs that do the job of someone who can't 'afford'(read: warez) decent programs.

Notepad is the only decent thing to code your HTML in. If you need to do some advanced layering shit that's beyond you, use DreamWeaver. I only ever tend to use DW to "touch-up" websites.

I've used Dreamweaver 2 for about the last year.
I tried to upgrade to DW3, but my lack of memory didnt let me.
DW as a whole is superb, it does what I want it to, and you can do the flashy stuff with clicks. It has built in java shite too. (Timelines feature is VERY nice).

I highly recommend it.
Seems to screw up a bit if I try to use serverside includes - tend to play fuck with the editiing process, but apart from that, greta program. DW4 has had good reviews too.

I shall dispel your dreamweaver with Firstpage’s Java applet creation wizard.
