would go with war or rdm as then getting groups at lvl 10+ is easier (provoke and being able to heal are group wanted abilities (war has voke and rdm can heal)).

RDM is a great and versatile class, it's kind of the Jack of all Trade, with some very nice abilities at 40+.

Great class, i loved it.

Im the kind of person that likes to be the best at *something* tho,
whatever it is, as long as it is a skill that I can master better then anyone :)

Seemes whitemages are best at healing,
Warriros best at tanking and rangers are best at single big dmg hits... correct?

Guess it has to be one of those, but I dunno... Seemes like warriros are very mutch needed from reading around everyone and their mom plays a mage?

nah enough melee'ers around, but only warriors (or people with war as sub) can maintain agro(/hate) on the mob well enough and not everyone wants to play the maintank (being damagedealer is nicer).

Blm is the magic damage dealer and is needed versus some mobs (some can boost their melee defense to silly heights).

White mages are in more demand at low levels as warriors, but that isnt something new(healing classes tend to be in little played).

rangers are good damage dealers, but a really expensive class and as it is an advanced job you need to do a quest(as lvl 30) to be able to play it. So it isnt a class you can pick from the start.

Best tank is Paladin, or Ninja if you got loads of money.

Best damage dealer is a ranger, but it's also VERY VERY expensive.

Healer is White Mage.

And Black Mage does very nice damage as well, and are as all other casters a little expensive.

I'd go with red or blackmage. :)
If you want a melee go with thief or monk.

Just one question, I read that you could change youre job at any time...

Does this mean that I can start out a monk, then change youre job to hm a thief later on and be as good at beeing a thief then that of someone who played a thief from level 1?

Or is it just the subjob you can change at any time?

<confused again>

When you change job, you go back to level 1. You have to level every job up.

hmm, so you can eventaly master all jobs if you find the time? and fit them onto 1 char?

Or do you by changing job, mean rerolling the char? :)

I can't realy wrap my head around this consept :)

Care to explain it a bit more detailed so that I can understand?

Yep, you can have all jobs lvl 75 on 1 char :)

You gotta lvl em seperately tho.

k is that what they mean when they say "subjobs" then?

Does it work in the way that u can have all the job avalable to you on a char at once?....

*OR do you have to go to a house, change jobs then you only get to have one job (and its skills) avalable to you till you change jobs again?... **or does changing jobs just involve wich one you are getting exp for while exping, but all the skills of the other jobs are still avalable to you at once?

hope you can understand what Im trying to ask here,
sorry for asking and digging
and thanks for taking the time to answer.

it all becomes easier when playing :) I'll give it a shot thou:

I started with Warrior, no sub ofc..
Warrior becomes 18
I did the subjobquest, which is for ... yer first 18 (normally)
went back to my house
changed mainjob to Monk
got my first subjob as... warrior, yes, my lvl 18 warrior which is now half the lvl of my Monk
when my monk gets 15
i'll grab the 18warrior as main
put the monk as subjob
and lvl the warrior till 30, so then i have a: 30WAR/15MNK
ready to unlock 1+ advanced jobs
like: Paladin/Warrior
I can lvl my Paladin till lvl 60 with my 30 Warrior
and then I'll have to lvl my Warrior so he can keep up with the Paladin
Max lvl is 75 so my Warrior should be lvl 37 for my high lvl

aint hard when you get into it hehe ;)

ok how does this sound,

If I first go with summoner, till 18 then I do the subjob quest ;p
change into whitemage then solo my way back up to 10 as a whitemage? :)

summoner is an advanced job. this means you need another job at level 30 first.

Also if you went summoner at level 30 you would only have carbuncle, you need more than carbuncle to be a good summoner and be worth something to a party.

Well BLM is a tough one to solo until you can go to valkurm (10-12 ish). It made me quit the game at level 8 :)

try a monk to start :)
or warrior perhaps for a bit easier grouping
or warrior/monk monk/warrior later
casters are expensive to start with
melee as well as you might notice, but nothing compared to casters still from what i hear
