I would want someone to help me but I'm not sure I could do it for my child, you'd have to be very strong. I've very nearlly been in that position when my daughter broke her neck....
C7 same as Christopher Reeve.

Shit man, you and your family have my hugest sympathies :(

As for the OP? I agree with Seal, and I think that it should be legal to it in this country, in certain cases, such as with termal illnesses etc.

i think its up to them...i dont think we should pay for it and i don't see why they need assisted, I've seen some moron go to an assisted suicide place just because they had diabetes, ok its not nice but it doesn't stop you from being able to kill yourself does it? i mean a quadroplegic i can understand but if you can do it then go do it dont make such a hoo hah about it.

also in this case i think councilling should have been offered, like maybe "Ok son, try this for a year and if you still want to die I'll happily throw the toaster in the bath with you" because tbh its a bit final isn't it, i mean its not one of those spur of the moment bad decisions that one can laugh off at a later date is it?

Am I immature for watching Independence Day ?

Must have seen that movie 20 times. Enjoy it every time. Complete and utter nonsense. But enjoyable nonsense.

I'm just surprised this thread didn't generate more of a heavy discussion. Or do you have to've been there to imagine the problem?

Its always sad to loose a good hooker.

Seriously though! I think euthanasia should be allowed. Who are we to decide for others should they live or not.

Yes lots of rugby injuries like that unfortunately. I'd probably have helped but then I'd've been extremely tempted to shoot myself afterwards.

I got a mate who is paralyzed form chest down, his arms are working just fine, he lift weights he takes me down without problem, he take's care of himself. Got his own flat, he got paralyzed 10 years ago in a car crash, he had suicide thoughts but he went on with his life, got a job pays his own bills.

But then again its easy to have objections, one have to see to the person, did he want to die just because he cant play rugby or because he's in so much pain hes doped up all the time?

Why should euthanasia be allowed? Who should say who's to live and who's to die? Well ofcourse if i was in an accident my body went to shit, my brain locked in a useless husk, sure then i would want to die (having machines do my breathing, keeping my heart goin etc)

I have though if this a lot i think if your doctor agrees with you that ending your / a loved ones life is the most humane thing to do then an independant doctor who has never met the paitent or family should be called in look over the facts only and then sign off on or block it.

I would hate to lose my mind and not know my kids or be kept alive only by machine so i would like the option to say end my life.

Mmmmm, I think neck down is a way away from waist down, according to what I read he couldn't do anything and altho teraplegic was still in pain. I regularly see a couple of tennis players who are in wheelchairs and I watch with awe, they are so good. Maybe he could've coped with that amount of loss of movement. It must be unbelievably difficult to come to terms with the situation.

Sometimes you might not be in the condition to make that choice though :|

True, and if you're not sane enough or don't have some form of previous "commands" on the issue, then leave them alone.

Noone should be able to "guess" if someone wants death or not.

Why shouldn't it be allowed? Removing religion from the equation - your life is your life and surely what you wish to do with it (providing you are conscious enough to make the choice) is up to you?

I think its absolutely awful, that teams actually collapse the scrum on purpose. Im not saying this is what happened in this case, but it does happen quite often, and being involved in a few collapsed scrums, its bloody painful and I wasnt in even in the front row where its worse.

Uncontested scrums cant come quickly enough in rugby union

But then all the southern hemisphere teams would roflstomp us. :(

How would uncontested scrums make a difference? How often is a scrum won against the head these days in union? As I guess I would say its less then 5%. How many scrums are actually pushed past the scrum halves mark? Again, I bet its really really low. Is it worth risking these kind of injuries for? Of the northern hemisphere games I have seen recently, the ball is straight in and out.

Another option, is for video evidence to be used when a scrum is collapsed on purpose, and the person found collapsing the scrum is hit with a hefty ban, maybe even a sine die ban, if video evidence is conclusive that it was collapsed on purpose.

Not necessarily won against the head, but still any pressure you can put on the opposition scrum im sure you know pressures their scrum half and it all adds up.

I'm not sure about the whole thing really, alot rests with the referees.
