lol well i love christmas and homemade pressies rock (still got yours tris lol) so it wouldn't effect me...the economy on the other hand would probably panic and the shops would all have to hold even more slaes than usual...

thats it no one buy any presents at christmas! lets do an experiment and see if i can get some really good stuff in the sales!

Certain industries would die over night. Others would probably just find their none christmas sales increased to cover it.

I presume you're talking about every single person who buys Christmas presents etc ?

Not everyone celebrates Christmas

And yes, it is a pile of shite.

its clearly a money spinning day.
same for mothers day, fathers day, valentines day and "spend all your money on this bull shit" day.
im suprised they havent made that one yet. just a random day where you spend as much money as you can.

dont buy presents then or celebrate it if you dont like it.
no ones forcing you to.

if you dont anyway, whats the problem? I personally just like the christmas feeling, the smell, the massive meal, the excitement when I pull a clementine out of my stocking.

Nah, stores plan heavily for christmas. If no-one bought stuff for presents, that doesn't mean they wouldn't buy stuff for themselves. However, alot of stores would take a heavy kick to the crotch, and you'd see the january sales last till march.

Economy wise, hard to say, but i'd think they'd be truly fuckered. Def lead to a few new taxes or tax rises for the government coffers.

Macro economically, the economy would most likely be near the same - just a juggle in where the money goes to and from. Assuming it is still stays in our economy.

Micro economically, disaster!

what about credit though. i reckon most people buy everything on credit at christmas, and if all that credit isnt being used surely it would cause effects on a macro scale?

That is a very good point actually.

Less credit may even lead to positivity in the economy:

- less bad debt
- less risk of a dramatic credit crunch
- possibly lower loan rates offered by private companies. Less demand & more supply should in theory lead to lowering of rates.

Depending though, it may plummit so much that the effect is the opposite.

Atleast, from what i could think of.

Also, if small businesess derive from santamas sales as much as i think, they might lose their business and many stores have atleast some bank business, if not in loan paymets, otherwise.

Also, i'm not quite sure what health things could come from abolishing santamas. Some find it a very relaxing time of the year, and to some it's their only "social encounter" which chears them up immensily. Then again, stress might be lowered to some.

As such, one can't even phantom what the overall effects would be.

hundreds of retail workers would be out of work here, and thousands of cheap labour workers in china, india, etc, where the goods are made - would also be out of work.

capital I!
:drink:

Capital c!

Capital B in British and sheephumping is two words!:twak:

Another blitzkrieg language inspection! :england:

You don't need a capital b when saying "capital b" and also blitzkrieg is not what is happening here as there is nothing mechanized in your assault.

Not to mention, there was nothing surprising or sudden about it :twak:

Not sure Blitzkrieg has anything to do with mechanised (not US spelling please, bloody Microsoft!) assault, I personally thought it was the phrase used for the Air Raids of the WWII

Regardless, the blitzkrieg inspection was actually humour, based on the Viz Comic's 'Blitzkrieg Bottom Inspectors'. :p ;)

Have you read the latest Viz?

Little known fact - Rose West's favourite crisps are Salt & Vinegar Chipstix.

Love it!
