What will GOA do if Mythic open a No-ToA/Restricted Buff-Bot server?

the no buffbot and no toa options where probably put together to ensure that they didn't win - both options are bad for mythic really
people who dislike toa tend to be into rvr, and as such often use bbs, whereas the more casual players who dislike bbs, also seem to enjoy toa more

The no-ToA server would simply remove any way to travel to ToA. You could still use your ToA/Catacombs/DR clients on that server.


Those people who voted for a home invasion server haven't really thought about it. That would be a crap server! After a couple of months, it'll average 200 players at primetime.

With a no-ToA server, players will know exactly what they're getting in to and only the dedicated will play there.
All ToA needs is a hit from Mythic's nerfbat to make it less time consuming, then there wouldn't be soo many negative feelings.

i always liked the idea of a co-op server, but it was always touted with no PvP at all. Why not have the ability to claim keeps and the land/towers around them, by guilds, and other guilds are able to challenge the ownership of the keep - kinda like a duel. Any "rules", persay, can be agreed before the acceptance - a window advertising the challenge maybe - lets you set numbers allowed and whether co-op or single realm armies, alliances or just guild allowed to participate, and whether or not actual ownership or just vandalism is the aim, then off you go.

The actual battles could even be instanced, allowing far less lag for a faster, smoother fight and it would allow the numbers/allies/aim options to be implemented without causing passers by to be inconvenienced.

With that option installed, and the ability to travel across all the realms, i would think it would be different enough to attract a fair few players...

I fear the opportunity to decline duels as you seem fit, would negate opportunities for lower guilds that want to retake the keep/artifact/relic/whatever. If you're able to decline, that could mean the guild will be in charge forever, even though they get horrible reputation.

Second of all : I agree with you Elendar, the casual players are way less likely to have a bot supporting them, than the die-hard frontier player. But, let's be honest : If you want to compete in RvR these days, you need a buffbot at your portal-keep. If Mythic/GOA actually found a way to prevent any form of buffbot, I think you'd find a lot more "casual" players in the frontier ( the ones without a buffbot ) since they can actually compete and the class-balance is back to normal ( The buffbots really mess up class-balance ) so they won't feel like they are at a complete disadvantage, not taking realmrank into account ( you can always raise this, no matter what you are fighting - If you really want to gain, you'll gain )

The player without a buffbot/friend with a buffbot, has very little to do in the frontiers, not only because they're the casual players and will be outskilled, but also because they have the disadvantage of no buffs. And I think THAT is what hurts the most - the no chance of realmpoints unless adding-kind of RvR ( which is what most die-hard RvR-players complain about )

until you puke of a certain

spellcrafting maybe with toa bonuses.

and get ml free would just require you to level your chars to 50 sence some(svartmetal) find that fun.

Change it back to old frontiers with removing relics and making it based on how many keeps you have instead that would give ppl who like keep takes more to fight for 18/18keeps would give you 15% and 15/18keeps would give you 12% and down to 6 keeps where you have 0% bonus but dont loose anyting under that.
Make it so you can get any gear you want basicly from a merchant
Random toa drops like a generator like the drops that come from bosses and make it so you could choose if you wish to have cloth/plate/chain/studded and give any artifact free and ml10 for free.

I suggest you go play IPvP where everything is free and you don't even have to level to 50!...
Funny how people always remember the good things about things that are gone like OF, remember the MG camp whine, MG stealthers, Hibs who had to travel 15 min just to get ganked upon entering Emain, Random groups who couldn't even leave their PK etc.
Most people who left when NF was released were already bored of the game and mainly left because they wouldn't want to go through with ToA and the other part left for WoW which was released just before NF.
This is of course just the things I've picked up from when people started mass leaving and their main reason was ToA not NF, infact most people loved NF.

I think most people dislike NF. Becouse it have taken all the RvR fun away. Most pf solores camp the docks or the jumping of area. I quited becouse of NF it is to large and i dont realy enjoy plaingin NF... Just w8 and sit on 1 place when some 1 comes out from the keep.... The old RvR were much more fun u ran past many enemys on the way u could fight them... I realy enjoyed plaing it... And when ToA came it was just a little rest of RvR so could do some PvE...

OK to start:

Mythic have not committed to a new server - talked about it, had polls (plural) and there was the reference to looking at casual players at the start of the year. But nothing is certain and nothing has been said. Mythic have failed, imo, to manage expectations and now the natives are getting restless.

<<Look at Camlan's population ...>> yes it has dropped but the population of all other servers has dropped as well. All servers have suffered 'about the same' as far as population drop goes.

The <<no NF option>> a valid point but as far as population drop goes NF doesn't seem to have been much of a factor. Hard to say properly as GoA had stopped publishing numbers at the time but the ToA drop will have been most marked c. 3 months after launch. SI + 3 months saw numbers drop by 5k after an initial surge (and you though SI was liked by all!) Same happened in US. Other than that 2004 had a general decline from a peak of about 32k in January.

Why cluster? 32k peak in Jan 2004, 17k now and starting to fall off again post Catacombs ...

Mythic faces a lose-lose-lose situation.
Introduce a new server and fail to meet expectations - people could leave.
Introduce a new server that results in people moving from existing servers and it could have a negative impact on existing servers; worst case people on the existing servers could leave / more clustering may be needed etc.
Introduce a new server that results in lots of people moving and you could end up with huge queues, demands for new servers, lots of lag .. and people leaving.
Mythic's silence speaks volumes.

A Home Invasion option is something that could be added to all servers and if introduced like that in non-PvP WoW server (with people flagged or not flagged as they wish and if they decide to go PvP they will stay until 5 minutes of inactivity when the PvP flag turns off). I think this is what Mythic would like to do because it can be applied across the board and avoids the possible server switches.

NF ruined alot for me when it comes to RvR, toa made PvE more fun for me. I haven't had a chance to XP past level 25 in catacombs, but it is looking quite good. I am unsure about the upcoming championlevels though.. time will show.

You seem to be missing all the points.
1) If Mythic open a NToA/RBB server it will mainly because they believe they can lure players back who left because of ToA, as such they're unlikely to have, have had, or want to have (respectively) the artefacts & scrolls of which you speak.
2) If Mythic open a NToA/RBB server the Excalibur/Prydwen population will decrease whether GOA opens an equivalent server or not, for the reasons stated in my original post.
