what ppl think about the "list" places like lair?

just whantet to know what ppl think about those places .........

as i made up my mind that i wont go ther as i cant see why i shall wait like 5-8 houres to get a group ther when i can go whit a "tank" and lvl abit slower but still get some "good" xp other places like spind or df...

From a certain point of view

I'm not a fan of any kind of list keeping, its annoying, wide open to creative listkeeping and generally brings out the worst in people.

However the lair is the fastest place to XP so it all depends on your outlook of the game, if you want to just level asap you have to put up with it however its more of a test of staying awake than actual skill (as a healer all you do is mash ae stun/spread heal/targetted heal for as long as you can be bothered)

If not like you suggest lots of other places to go not as quick but dont have the urge to zoom to level 50 I'd suggest places like Vanern, Raumarik and DF (although DF is a silly place)

And, your a healer.. Will get group in notime..
And the Lair-XP is Great, even thoug it becomes a bit irritating every now and then, pulling the same mobs, over, and over, and over again.
But still, its worth it

Lair and lists...

If u want to power exp, with the only goal in mind hitting 50, then lair is perfect.
It is a repeted hell from 43-50 but it will shurely get u there fast and swift if u stick there.
U will get extremely bored at exping, after lvling 1-2 mains there.

Lists, well lists are the only answer to making "all" get somewhat similar chance at getting a grp.
If it were invite on sight or friends, then we would have whole another line of problems.

Personally i dont like power exping, lair style, cuz it is boring and same thing each pull.
but i am there anyway, since my goal is hitting 50, so i can get RvRing.

P.S think this is the 1000th lair omg lists post.

I have been in lair and dinged 50 with to characters there..
First with my warrior.. and the list sucked.. worst wait time was around 7 hours I think..
Second time with my SM.. guess what? .. the longest time I had to wait was around 1 hour ! ..

And soon hitting the famous lvl 43 with my SB .. expecting 1-2 days waiting time ... but Hey if you see Lillurme on a lair list.. be nice and let him in fast

Hopefully ppl wil start to realize SI has brought you more exciting places to level 40+, Faraheim, Trollheim, the ice caverns or just running round in Iarnwood. This should break the lair monotony.


Lists suck IMO, but theres little else to do. Ppl have to reuglate the flow of exp, balancing the groups as a whole, and make sure all get their fair share.

As a Thane I didnt have much trouble, patience helped tho, as a healer tho no problem at all, with only 1 or 2 occasions where i waited for ages and gave up, I leveled fast with some great groups.

No doubt ill go back again with one of my chars, atm hunters aint too popular and my runies a little way off there yet, but at the end of the day the place serves a purpose.

I had some good grps I've had some bad grps, some just hate being there, some appreciate an attempt at humour,

last time I went through was with my shammy, and ppl like asphyxiation, Rev, Keday, Xajorkith, all been there, and all pretty relaxed, others I could name as being humourless gits but it's not bout flaming

Well...I've seen more ego-trips, attitude problems and out-and-out rudeness at the Lair than in all the rest of DAOC put together.
IMO a lot of it is due to the whole list thing - I know I've lost my temper when, after waiting 8 sodding hours to get into a grp, the grp dissolves the moment I get there. Something people would perhaps do well to remember is that just because they're levelled, maybe they could stick around to help others level too rather than just buggering off straight away? The attitude of "Oh, I've hit 50, everyone else can sod off" seems to be a little too common there...
I've also gotten really wound up by the attitude some listkeepers have had - had people go "You're only lvl45, you can't come." Well excuse the fuck out of me for drawing breath, but I pay the same amount as you to play this game, Mr. Listkeeper, aso don't talk down to me like that.
Currently my main, a 46-going-on-47 Warrior is parked there, but TBH I'm getting so sick of the Lair (let's be honest, the gameplay there is repetitive as hell) that I think I'm going to get out of there and take him to the new SI territories to explore...anyone care to join me?

Lair = Uber xp, especially doing box-pulls. The lists and the long waiting is however a nightmare.

there is a way to get up the lair list faster seen it work a few time get freindly with a full sup sm one that allways needs gold then say ok if i get in i can bring a lvl 50 sm with me to help what are my chances of geting in faster
last time i was asked to help a freind get into lair list it took 15 mins after he asked and told them he could bring a lvl 50 sm with him and his class sb

The list realy helps classes like hunters / Sb that aren't so wanted to groups, cause you just go on a list and join like everyone else, you just need to taunt one mob and line him up if you are box pulling so everyone with taunt can do that. I haven't realy had problems with lair, ppl are realy good there, like I happend to be 1. on list the LK wen't LD and someone else took the list and but's me 3. I acourse got a pit pissed, so I talked to the LK and he was realy good about it, but me 1. were I should had been, but this is what I personaly experienced there and I kinda like it, I'm just fletching while I'm waiting on list so I realy don't loose that much.

Being a stealther you will often find yourself being bumped down the list and other "fun" things.
So idealy the list is good for such classes, but in pratice it is far from the case.

Get up at 7 AM CET at the weekends, that will give you a group 90%+ of the times if you are not a stealther.

Quite simple,

If you dont want to go the lair list route, dont. Easy huh??

If you do, make yourself an Alt to play when you cant get a group, be prepared to leave the char being levelled logged on the hill for a rapid response, and get ready for a tedious, but rapid, passage through the last 6 or 7 levels.

One thing I have noticed is that nobody seems to make groups at 'H' anymore??

In the US, many folk now use the Tuscaren Glacier for fast xp rather than the lair, I am sure that once us Europeans get the hang of it we will be doing the same.

I hate the lair, i hated it at level 46 all the way through to 50. My brain melted with the long sessions there and being kept on a list for 8 hours + is no fun at all. I have other alts that I want to see to get to 50 but I doubt they will ever see or be on another list for the lair. Done it once never again, never again.

been listkeeper many times, someone ask what number they are, i say around number 30, they say: Ok

wtf???!!

MAKE YOUR OWN GROUP! aint that hard, just do some /who 49,48,47, etc. and you have your own group.
and if someone leaves, just go to the Hill and check if someone is lfg, then you dont need to wait for someone who is in emain that is number 1 on lizzzt.

And yes stealthers get screwed on lists..... just make some helpfull friends, works best
