ellos im polanning on attempting to make my own daoc video and i aint sure what kinda music to edit into it.. i was gonna go with tracks from stuff like matrix/blade/natural born killers soundtracks etc. or pulp fiction.

i aint downloaded any of the daoc movies ... but it seems to me lots of folks whine if the music aint to good :) whereas most aint to bothered about the game play . its the d/l speed and music they look at most lmao.

any tips? dont want my video when i finish it to be the (spice girls of daoc vids)

p.s do many videos have rap/hip hop etc in them ? or are they all grundge/heavy metal shit (not my kinda music)

Download some tracks with lots of screaming over bad music, seems to be the 'fotm' music for rvr movies :p

If you use something which goes with the action, it'll work imo.

I'm not much for the metal crap that most ppl use in their vids, but if it's good footage, usually even (what i consider) crap music really boosts the fighting scenes.. So imo, pick whatever music u like and feel would be apropriate.. i've even seen some vids with ppl timing music parts with key moments in their films, that's really really cool.

that's my 10 cents anyways.

if your video has some explosive action - ie a group suddenly arriving on top of another then perhaps use a drum and bass track and time the main drop with the moment the groups meet - then itl be sick. the legendary DH_high video does that to some extent, but they use strange electro rock instead of drum and bass, but it worked very well

I always thought prodigy would go well with daoc videos, fast paced etc.. and not many people have used it.

A few that spring to mind:

voodoo people
Narayan
Smack my bitch up (would make a good intro imo)

Just a few suggestions anyway!

Just remember what I was gonna use in my vid that I never got round to finishing.

Freq nasty - underglass remix

Very different to whats usually used aswell, got a great drop too if you managed to sync it with the action. BTW the music in the dh video sucked, it was disturbed which is in 90% of all daoc vides, so dont use that crap!

yes prodigy have got some good beats...

couple i have found so far for a solo friar movie are

Lil Wyte - Homicdal Suicidal
Shai Hulud - Fearless Vampire Killers
Leonard Cohen - The Future (Natural born killer soundtrack)
Slayer - Fight Till Death - (album Show no mercy)

the 1st one imo i think would be awesome for a solo friar movie. with some fast/slow paced action .

p.s will look for some more fast paced music for larger battles .

p.p.s do many peeps use quoates in movies .wav's that is? cos i found some cracking wav's that could begin or end the movie.

for example i found a mp3 that has neo outta the matrix saying "i know kung foo" and then morpheopus syaing "show me" anjd it kicks into a really good "high tempo dance music" and with me being a friar. kung foo is a good statement imo :)

also found a mp3 file saying the scene when morpheous is asking neo wether he wants the blue or red pil :) if i can put that in sumwhere

just use music YOU like. and dont take any notice of the QQ's that feel the need to complain about it. if u think the music fits the videao, then it probably does.

I think the music would have to have an epic sort of sound to it. Kinda like a movie soundtrack. I'd probably say some sort of Folk/Gothic/Symphonic Metal is best suited to a game like DaoC. I've always liked the idea of using some Tristania music in a movie. Soprano female vocals, Gregorian chanting, violin solos for the melody and Raging guitar riffs and death metal vocals to contrast this. It kinda matches Celtic vs Norse quite well for instance. I know that I'd get flamed for the growling but it's suited to the movie in this sort of instance really. Other bands to look at would be Therion - After Forever - Nightwish - Rhapsody maybe (more epic power metal but still great). I think one of the Bleed movies had Apocalyptica in which was excellent.

One inportant thing to remember though is NEVER use R&B or rap music in your daoc music. It has ruined so many videos I've watched as all I end up concentrating on is the lyrics regarding ho's, drugs, booty and shout outs to generic R&B artist #34512 who happens to be making guest appearance on that particular song.

humm, use what music you prefer to listen to imo, to make it more personal instead of some streamlined thingy to "fit in"..

Im gona use stuff from the 80's for my vid mostly i think =)

Dooo you really want to huuuuurt me?? Do you really want to make meeee cryyyyyy....

ok, not that one but.. still... use what music YOU prefer, not what people want to hear.

Rarely see that kind of music in daoc videos, but if done right it's the best type imo. The French movie "Way of the Rukimara(?)", had a good sound track, it's a must-see for anyone bored enough to watch daoc movies :p

Gustav(I think) mid/pryd, used the Enya track from last of the mohicans, which worked pretty well. The trouble with those type of orchestral tracks is they're long, and you'd have to do some superb editing to make it fit with the action.

I'm still waiting for an RvR video with some more "class" music in it.. Requiem would be extremely sweet for an RvR video (well I kinda imagine it's been used before.. great piece), but also something like Tori Amos would be cool :p

Or if you want medieval/epic combined with electricity try Symphony X - The Oddyssey - should be music enough for one film, the track lasts ~24 mins.

If you want to go fotm, In Flames is nice, Hed(pe) would rock, maybe even Apocalyptica would be nice too. Other bands to chose tracks from could be: Dark Tranquility, Nile (oh that would be cool for a vid), The Haunted, Type O, Children of Bodom.

For roleplay (mostly applies for albs and hibs) try soundtrack from Braveheart, First Knight (the last fighting scene inside camelot is infact a Classical piece by Carl Orff - Oh Fortuna - great piece) or maybe some celtic musik compilation.. I know in Denmark we have some Celtic Moods or something like that vol. 1-2-3.

Other than that, I personally think Lemonjelly also could be nice in a vid.

Just brainstorming :p

It really depends where you want to go with your video - the music will set a lot of the "mood" in the video.

I haven't really made any proper movies but I'm always full of ideas.

I was gonna make a BG zerker video with A-ha's "Touchy". (not a great song but imo it would look funny with a Troll zerker running around hitting ppl to that song :p)

Then I was gonna make a video pwning some fotm mids with my Cabalist with Eminem's "Go To Sleep". But I never wanted to hit the fraps button cause I'd just lag to shit and lose the fight.

And I would like to make a solo Bard video with Red Hot Chili Pepper's "Walkabout".

And a Paladin video with "Can't Touch This".

Some people will think the songs you put in are crap - god knows I've disliked a few videos cause they just have a horrible soundtrack in my opinion :p I don't think death metal fits DaoC at all - I haven't really seen it work this far as well...but I'm sure it could be done if you had the right songs to the right moments :p

It really depends on the style in the video. Some people understand to edit and can time it so the riffs fit what happens in the movie. E.g. stealther movies where PA chain is in the same rythm as the music etc.. hope you get my point.

I do agree to a certain degree. However I would also think that trance, dance, techno and all that noob crap doesn't fit anything either. Keep it roleplay or go metal, but keep the techno for the kids who don't understand music.. in my humble opinion ;p

EDIT: If you haven't already, go to pryd rvr section, search for TheSavageMovie and download it if you can. AWESOME editing and most of the music just fits the video perfect.

Classic stuff.

Editing tip, as if I know what I'm talking about;
You should lay the music down 1st then put the images on top, that way you can edit the piece in time to the music. Timing visual events (an explosion, or an edit) to the drumbeat, for example, works really well.

ahh crap... just noticed what the Naus said. Listen to this dude Rufus, he knows what he's talking about.
