what is your opinion on the archer classes in the realms

Just a quick question really. You see a lot of threads on these forums of who would make up the best groups and who are you biggest enemy threads. 1 thing i have noticed it is very rare to see an archer based class in those list.

I love playing my scout and i think he puts up a pretty good show in rvr. And some of my biggest enemies are other Hunters/Rangers.

I suppose i really was wondering if the archer based class are not seen a s a big threat in the frontiers.I would be interested in people's opinion.

scouts?
hahahahahaha
They shoot at me, I got engage and /face on my 1st quickbar.

hammer button 9 and 0, then press the forward button. RUN FOREST RUN!!!!!!!!! In melee, scouts gets their arses handed to them on a platter... scouts are "the" class for easy rps. if they don't run away, that is.

Rangers, well...... Some are downright easy to kill. They dual wield, so my chance to block is halved before I even tey to hit. They have insanely high dex, so they seem to evade loads.

They can't kill me with bows, but some can kill me in melee.
usually very good fights.

Conclusion - I like archers of enemy realms when fighting 1 on 1. Best solo fights I ever had have been against archers. Shame there's not enough around, and those that are around don't try their luck agaist epic wearing shield carrying trolls.

archers kick my arse at range, typically getting me down to 30% or less before I can reach them, once I reach them tho scouts are rather pathetic in melee and die easily even tho I'm low on health. Hunters are highly variable.. some I can kill easily, some will whack me for 498dmg and kick my arse ;)

I (minstel) usually group with at least one scout in RvR, sometimes 2 or more.
If well played and supported by the group, they're deadly archers. They're the least melee capable of the 3 classes, but their shield is a nice utility.

Hunters are just evil. They get good bow damage and with their spear and insta-pet they deal quite a punch in melee. Can't say that i enjoyed the few encounters i had...

I can't really comment on rangers because i only met them on 2 occasions, on the first one i was only 35ish and joined a fight scout vs ranger(after the scout got killed i managed to mezz the ranger and got away ^^), the second one was revminster shooting me while i tried to keep a bard from mezzing :D

As long u face them and dont have them putting arrows in u butt they are NP. Sprint get there hit second wind and kill.
I still evade alot of those arrows and with there fumble miss rate rarely do they get 2 hits on me. When they do pop and u are busy fighting fg v fg they are a pain tho not like u have time to press face and have some other hit u from behind. Buffed from a green con shammy today I hit 1915 hp takes some arrows to get that down, hoping for 2000 hp when i have full sc amore and find a friendlly lvl 48 aug shammy not bad for a kobold.

Does that go for fully druid buffed rangers as well? Because on the few occasions when I'm fully buffed up, I usually have no problems taking out sb's/infs in melee. And if fighting on equal terms, e.g. none of us buffed, I usually win those fights too. Now these kind of encounters only happens once in a while, but still. :)

Dunno about rev last time I encoutered a ranger was today we had a 3 sb v 3 infil batle and I saw him pop, he shoot 2 times at me while I was hitting an infil missed 1 , then infil died and I sprinted towards him evaded 1 arrow on the way, I never got hit from his mele and he died from 5 hits, he didnt have purge up or it took him to long to find it maybe, No purge No ip gonna save u when stuned. Standing on a milegate or behind a tree hitting me in the right amount of distance is where arhers can do damage, I still think slam is the best thing all 3 archers classes have, gives a small changes to slam run away and pop arrows into u. being unbuffed is up to uself bring nice homemade buff potions gives me 20 % more hp 40 more str for me, sure they will do the same for a cute luri as u.
Hope to see you out there , U can find me under 10 infils at MMG mostly pressing my release macro.

I am always glad when i have tip or Aim in my group. they act like casters, stand in the back wait till till the action starts and then help out tanks taking out the enemy. saved my ass more then one time.

Hunters: Never came across any good ones at my RvR peak, they'd all retired due to the nerfs, hopefully I'll see them all soon when/if I return to RvR with my ranger. Just needed a break, lack of decent groups, only ones in existence are guild based or just plain elitist and well, solo gets a bit boring after a while, especially when it's nigh on impossible to find other solo targets to have a fair fight with :(

Scouts: They're either good or they're useless, you get the pointless ones like Husky, who shoot grey cons at Ligen, then run and log for an hour, rinse and repeat, and if you do catch him, he just runs, I could swear he's invested in longwind, tireless and secondwind purely so he can just run away like the pansy he is, yes he annoys me, because due to his "run like a wuss" RAs I can rarely catch him :p. Then you get the good ones, that stand and fight, Dioz, Arawn etc. if I have purge ready I'll win, but if I don't chances are they'll win.

Apart from that like I say I've barely logged in my ranger for a month or so, would like to come back soon tho, just seems to be so many things I wanna do with SC, SI and all that that I don't seem to have time for it atm :/

With Infil: They are fodder.

With Caster: I have to try very hard to stop being killed easily by the bastards, and now when i q/c to interrupt a hunter after first finding them, running some to bring them into my range, they fooking instacast a pet on me. Instacast is soo annoying, why cant they reduce chances to interrupt on instant stuff, and they should reduce interrupts in total overall IMO :).

Oh and another thing, fooking shooting through walls all the time, I know they can pull it off if they draw with you in LOS, but when you move out of sight and still get 2 shots in you its very annoying. Oh and when they shoot everyone harder than I can dd that pisses me off too <strokes her poor ice dds>.

Playing to your strengths makes you a bad archer ! Perhaps when the next berzerker closes my wizard I should whip out my staff and show him how good players play the game!!

With good scouts (since fa cant be used in combat anymore :( )
its either ip and purge his stun , then 4 shot him :) if its unbuffed ofc , or die

with hunters , they seem to miss and have very low dmg bowshots sometimes , sometimes even outdamaging themselves with their spear , so engage and kill him melee what normally isnt much of a prob, tho i can remember Random 4 shotting me once when i had no ip up and after a very nasty crit shot and 3 heavy bow shots

anyways they are very nasty when you have no active ra up and get all their shots in

for a example Cry started shooting me near apk , got me to 30 % hps when i finally reached him , after i engaged him he stunned me and tried to get a back positional style in , i purged out of his stun and ip'ed .. then started to hit him and won , iow .. with no ip AND purge up i would have been ganked bigtime here

this are the fun situations , either the archer thinks he can beat you , or accepts the fact he will be dead soon .. unfortunately most of em sprint awat and try to stealth so they can crit shot u again :*( i can imagine this cos u want to kill , and not getting killed :) anyways i detest it when they run and love it when they try to kill you in melee

Rangers: Fodder, just face and engage. Once I'm up close a slam and 2 maybe 3 polearm hits will have them chewing dirt, never had a problem with Rangers.

Hunters: Used to be the same as Rangers, fodder, but after my first encounter with Belxavier (/salute) since the introduction of those nasty pets it's a different story. I went straight for Belxavier, ignoring the pet, but after I had got him down to 20% or so he IP'ed and him and his pet finished me off.

Dioz and Arawn don't seem to feel the need to run, so I guess they're bad players for not using this so-called strength? Hardly.
