Confused what is up with these HUGE steam updates lately?

as title. I've been getting massive updates to steam, at least once a week. anyone else been having this?

They are changing the file system and compression they use or some thing. This results in huge downloads.

Echoing what Ch3tan said, they've done a new way of compressing and encrypting games (Should be faster when you get new games though)
