What Friar staffs lvls 40-50?

Just dinged 40 last night and got my epic staff. Dps seems good till lvl 43/44 or so. What staffs are you friars out there using beyond that?

When is SI coming out over here? There's a 15.9 dps quest staff quest coming with it that looks sweet.

Also looking for a softened bark cloak from hamadryads, they just won't drop for me.

Killed a TON of hamadryads to get that cloak, best advice is just to stick with it. If you know a fire wizzy might suggest it as XP spot to them and offer a finders fee for cloak

Would imagine after epic staff you would be looking at a duskwood player crafted, have one on my friar which is around 16dps which if i ever reach that level I intend to use (thanks Desdecado ).

Dont witherwoods drop a staff in Lyonesse ? thats normaly a L44+ group killing em

I assumed he didnt want to use low quality drops but yeah there are a few in the 45+ range.

Witherwood drop.
Crackling Ebony Staff from barrows (has glow effect).
Rift Sealer from named giants in Dartmoor.

Assume theres also a barfog drop and probably a prince one in DF as well. Though for damage a 99% duskwood spellcrafted next patch is really the way to go

Epic staff is good till 43 yeah, then try to get your hands on a Pillar of Might from the pennines, 48+ look for a witherwoode staff, reasonable speed and procs like mad , also the DF Diamond Seal staff (avernal malison quarterstaff) isn't too bad. If you are up for it once 49 or 50 hike to llyn barfog and kill King of Barfog Hills for a Stately Quarterstaff which imo is the best drop staff in the game.

Crafted staves are nice but unfortunately slow for a 16.5dps one. I use ensorcelled staff of celerity at 50, but will need a good deal of luck to get one.

40-43: Epic
44-48: Pillar of Might/Rift Sealer/Crackling Ebony Sunderer
49-50: Avernal Malison Quarterstaff/Gnarled Witherwoode Staff/Stately Quarterstaff/Ensorcelled Staff of Celerity

Most of those staffs are low quality, would I not be better off using a 100% quality staff that procs till at least lvl 47 or so.

How much should I expect to pay for a 98/99% staff that'll be good at 50?

What drops Pillar of Might and do you have stats handy?

Personally I still feel that 99% player crafted are the way to go especially with spellcrafting soon to arrive.

Sorry dont know a price as mine was a gift, though best bet is too agree with a crafter a cost for the initial attempt and then a remake cost so you can guesstimate how much 97%+ will cost you.

Of course you could try to find a fletcher with a masterpiece order and agree to buy a 99% off them, sure there must be a couple of people wanting 100% ones for spellcrafting (and willing to pay silly money for it).

Well due to the fact that we cant get a reasonable speed crafted staff, I prefer the drops.

But its up to you, if you like to hit like a train but very slowly then yeah get a crafted one, if you are like me and prefer to hit for less but very fast then use the drops, especially the Ensorcelled Staff of Celerity.

Pillar of Might is a pennines drop, raven clan or cyreaths.

I'm a 44 friar and am still using my 40 epic staff - effective dps being 14.1 as its 100% qua and of course its fast (3 spd) + heat dd proc.

I agree with traia's hit fast but not necessarily with max dmg theory - and agree tis a shame u cant get a fast player crafted one.

thought i'd try and get some figures on this post to help ppl (including me) decide - hope my maths holds up! (effectiev dps = actual dps x qua% I am reliably informed)

Crackling ebony sunderer does 13.8 effective dps and has energy proc - slow at 5.2 spd tho.

Brilliant smouldering ember 4.5 spd - effective dps 14.97 doesnt proc til 48 tho but gives a sweet dex/qui boost when it does.

Pillar of might is tricky to compare - it gives effective dps of 14.33 and a nice spd of 3.1 but no proc.

Rift Sealer looks like a very nice fast staff - effective 14.58dps with 3spd but no proc.

Gnarled witherwood procs at 50 with efective dps 14.42 and 4 spd.

Avernal malison - effective 14.49 with 3 spd and heat dd proc at 48.

Stately QStaff looks evil - 15.07 effective dps with 4.1 spd and 30% bonus should be noted - big fire dmg proc too.


Cant find stats on Ensorcelled Staff of Celerity - is that an SI drop?

Having staffs with different speeds - some with proc some without makes it very tricky to choose. I'm thinking of staying with my epic for now or maybe using smouldering ember (hit hard with average speed) or maybe using pillar of might (will that extra .23 effective dps counteract the loss of heat dd proc and .1spd?)

I'm confused.

Just wiz'd through post but i think u missed out the Soulstone(DM drop i think) staff the 1 that looks like a casters staff also theres a lower level caster looking staff in barrows thats of course if u want to run around looking like a caster in rvr since the stats r pretty poor. Player crafted staffs are your best bet though and with spell crafting next patch u can make some really nice staffs.

Stately Quarterstaff is dropped by the King of Barfog Hills (in Llyn Barfog )


Ensorcelled Staff of Celerity is dropped by some overgrown lizard in Dartmoor.
Stats: Staff/Parry +6 Quickness +13 16,5 dps/3,3 spd 100 % quality 35 % bonus and got a haste proc (doh)
