I was using DynDNS before their restrictions on the free account got stupid (and now "free" doesn't exist with them anymore anyway) then I was cheekily using one by D-Link but now it says I need to enter a serial number of a D-Link device I own in order to continue not having to pay for it. I'm now giving DuckDNS a go.
If I can't find a free one that does what I need (which isn't much... a couple of hostnames, no requirement to sign in every month to remain registered etc) I don't mind paying for it but DuckDNS seems to fit the bill (pun definitely intended) very well so far.
