That chain real ? Kinda looks abit shit and new...

sorry hag but :twak: if you'd read his post you'd have seen he actually made it himself!! which i am going to say shows a lot of talent and patience and to say it looks a bit shit.... well give us a pic of the armour you made and lets compare it shall we?

*throws pink wafer biscuit at haggus*

on another note i actually used to collect my own toenails, had a big jar of them (was only a kid i think about 15 at the time) but was because i'd heard of this voodoo thing where if someone gets a toenail clipping they can stick a hex on you. me mum found it and chucked it out (and im not entirely convinced she didnt use the opportunity to put a hex on me at the time) also collected beer mats and hub caps and had them stuck on me bedroom walls (again was about 15/16) and i used to have an insect collection too which im not proud of cos i had to kill them myself and mount them in petre dishes, but all the worms in me worm farm were alive and got set free.

if the police raided my house then id be hoping they had a legitimate reason first.

there is nothing illegal about collecting legal weapons.

and about being able to use my weapons.

i dont collect the swords to use them, i simply admire their construction and looks etc.

the guns i can use. the photo of that can was only from about 20 m away though. still used the iron sight and not the red dot. usually if there is space i can hit from 60m away with the magnum.

Am I the only one with a collection of road signs, fair ground lights/signs, roadworks equipment and generally shit from nights out? :m00:

Nope, me and my friends have a cracking collection we have amassed over the years including, cones, the illuminated box things with an arrow on from a traffic island, road signs, trees, garden gnomes, some army chemical warfare clothes lines with charcoal, 2 policemans helmets, an illuminated boddingtons sign from the side of a pub (my mate ended up in hospital, yanking that off the wall, still works tho!) and an 8 foot fish that used to hang at the side of a chippy. Want to know how good our local police force are? They collared me dragging the 8ft fish down the road and just laughed and let me go with it.

I dont really collect much though, but if I ever find myself with money to burn I wouldn't mind the odd sword to hang on the wall next to the fireplace.

Lamp, I want a MB, but being a poor student can't afford one :p I'm stuck with a nice Parker though (dont laugh!) so I'll cope. Dunno how people can write with biro's after writing with a fountain tbh, i lurve them :D

Pfft, when I get a pic of mine I'll show you :p

And btw chain that looks new and sparkely isn't really appealing for those sort of people who wear it. The rusty it is the better. Thats why I called it shit

I didn't mean it in a harsh way at all. Was just saying !

Anyway, fyi making one of those does require patience but not talent ;) If I can do it everyone can.

Mine has leather bits at the arms so you don't chaffe(sp?) when you wear it because I use it alot.

Biro's for life! Have to be black ink ones though, blue ink just looks so ugly :).

I just can't write decently with a fountain, it's so slow when compared to a biro. Pencils are off course even faster, but they have the (minor) disadvantage that I can no longer read what I've written 2 days later :).

I don't really collect anything. I hope to have lots of books later, but I wouldn't call myself a collecter, as most of them are only paperbacks :(.

im only an amateur on swords, but i didnt think straight up steal would be good for practicial use?

isnt it likely to snap and fly in your face, where carbon steel doesnt?

im gonna go shoot some cans up in a bit, so i will show some photos of what the beast can do.

Different types of steel, depending on how it was treated when heated i.e. Hardenned/toughenned/ sprung etc. And whether it's folded like traditional katana's. Also Carbon steel is infact more brittle, thus more likely to snap, but it is also harder...

So for a sword you'd cool the body down fast, while leaving the edge with less cooling. Sounds odd ? Ok, apply a thick mudcoating on the body, while only a thin one on the edge.
Doh didn't see this.
To slowly cool one edge, clay was applied to it, thus holding in some of the heat and acting like insulation. Doing this made one side cool faster, where as the side which cooled slower expanded more, forming the curved shape that many swords are.
