ive read the Seventh Scroll (i think thats what its called in english anyway) and yes damn good book :D

and the George R R Martin books ("A Game of Thrones" etc) have the meatiests, heaviest, most twisted plotlines ive ever seen!!

i mean for gods sake he keeps killing of the main characters, havent read the latest one yet though, its waiting for me at home!

The prequel (2-3000 years :p )to the Seventh Scroll........River God was excellent too.....and the sequel, whose name i've forgot, was good as well. :)

George RR Martin does like building up his characters to be liked then putting em through the meat grinder.........very refreshing :D

Apart from those i've also just re-read Robert Jordans latest and also Peter F Hamiltons Judas Unchained.
My next book will be Conn Igguldens final Emperor book and then 1st March should see Steven Erikson release his next book..........The Bonehunters!

just started "the jester" by james patterson, set during the time of the crusades but they feature very little in the story, looks to be a ripping yarn so far with knights and maidens fair! TALLY HO!

Reading "Halo: The Flood" by William C. Dietz atm.

It's the book of the original game and very obviously written after the game. Reading it is like playing the game again it's almost a level by level transcript.

Still a great book that made me dust off my xbox to play it again.

I'm such a fucking nerd :(

At the moment I am reading Salman Rushdie's "Midnight's Children".

Recently read the three Hannibal Lecter books (If any more exist tell me!) and Heroes and Demons but after the sheer skill of Thomas Harris Dan Brown's irritating "ham writing" (think William Shatner's style of acting and compare) falls flat on its face and I just can't bear the thought of reading Da Vinci Code.

haha im so with you on this :p

oh btw, listen to "lucy in the sky with diamonds" by old willie shatner...so bad its only surpassed by " the ballard of bhilbo baggins" by Leonard Nimoy !

I thought you had always been impressed by me :(
Anyway, I thought the Digital Fortess book was quite a good read, tho it's welly fast and easy, but still good :> It was like going back to children's books after having read the Wheel of Time series, since I've never heard of half the phrases in there before, while Dan Brown only uses regular words, rather than making up half a dictionary himself, which is nice before going to bed, as it doesn't really require me to pay attention :p

I'm about 1/4th way through Lord of Chaos now, which wasn't too interesting so far, but hey, most of the Wheel of Time books start off slow :p

Not sure if I mentioned this one before, but 'Are you Experienced' by William Sutcliffe is one of the funniest books I've ever read :> Sure, I haven't read all that many books in my seventeen years, but I'm sure some of you will agree that it's a nice book :p

Have to agree on the Wilbur Smith books Ezteq, although his latest one was so disappointing I can't even remember the title.... covered the seige of Khartoum, and promised a great story, but was terrible. I think I lent it to someone with the hopes of not getting it back.

However his first books, the original Courtney trilogy ending with 'A Sparrow Falls' are among my favourite titles... must have read them all 3 times since I was 14.. a LONG time ago.

The River God trilogy was very good as well, probably because much of it was such a new style of writing for him, being almost a narrative. That trilogy mixed styles from book to book also, which made them all the more interesting.

Someone mentioned the Peter Hamilton series earlier, and I've not read a good science fiction title for a long time (last memorable ones were the Jedi Academy series) so I may well give that a go. Looks epic....

I've read all 11 Wheel of Time books 3 times now. Anyone who likes them I'd recommend the Robin Hobb trilogies, of which I believe there are 3 at the moment. Also Philip Pullman RoX0r teh b0xOr.

Machivelli's "The Prince" but thats soon over. Not sure what to read next

For people who have trouble, reading Audio books is a solution. I can highly recommend Terry Pratchets books read by Nigel Planer. I listen to it myself even though I have read the books because Nigel Planer does it so briliantly.

im just about to start on Steven Erikons a tale of the malazan book of the fallen, from what ive read they seem to be the best of epic fantasy tales there are.

Just finished a feast for crows and i like Martins books even tho the endless jumping between characters gets on my nerves.

at the moment im halfway through The Stand by Stephen King and just about to finish the zahir by Paulo Coelho. the stand if ofcours good as all of kings books that arent all about the horror and the zahir isnt as captivating as Coelhos other books( Veronica decides to die is probably the best by him).
i have also just started the constant gardener by le'care but i cant get through it, i probably shouldnt have seen film first what i feel from the book is that this might be a good story which was absolutly worth making a film of but you shouldnt waste your time reading the book since it doesnt really give you anything more then the film. ofcourse i havent finished book.

Steve Ericsson - Malazhan book of the Fallen. Nicely high level political discussions usually ending with a lot of deaths
Terry Pratchett - all of them, rereading them is even better than the first time, uhhh sounds familiar?
George RR Martin - just read Feast for Crows. Love the familiarity build up before they get axed or sworded or ... actually a bit like iRvR.
Raymond E. Feist - Wheel of time - all 11, now also readin spring book. Kinda like get on with it, and do something about those damn chicks (hint he should read George RR Martin where stupidity gets punished the hard way)

Guess I read too much fantasy.

Just started this morning in the subway on way to work "Jonathan Strange & Mr.Norrell" from Susanna Clarke.

After the first chapter it doesn't look promising tbh, despite being announced as the New York Times bestseller :twak:
