Well recently a few songs have gotten alot of playtime in particular:
As Hope Dies - Led Astray
The sound could be better but I guess it kinda adds to the charm A good song of an ok album. It's some kind of melodic death/thrash hybride I guess. The Gothenburg sound is oh so present nonetheless. It kinda sounds like these guys have had At The Gates - Slaughter of The Soul on repeat for nine years straight. There's more though, the production even leans abit more to the black metal sound.
Aborted - Nemesis
Ah, goregrind. A genre I have never taken a liking too, maybe because Im not all that fond hearing about things you can do to the human body grunted unhearably for 40mins straight while getting sonically beaten to the ground by blastbeats and guitars tuned down so low they are finding oil. Well Aborted is a different story, mixing in alot of death that is at times almost technical this song has won me over. Neat lead guitar work too. That being said, it's probably the only song on the cd that stuck with me.
Farmakon - Stretching Into Me
People that know me will tell you I have one band that in my eyes can do nothing wrong in this world, and that band is Opeth. Well, since I love the whole progressive death metal area I was very glad when I first heard this the first time. It kinda sounds like Opeth around the Still Life album. Even the vocals are quite similar. The clean voice is nice, ofcourse not as good as Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth but still good. The growl is alot more impressive imo. To describe it you will have to imagine Mikael Åkerfeldt with more of a black metal screech quality to it and you have this guys vocals. Great stuff. Song is taken of there second album so there's still room for improvement, I will certainly keep my eyes open. Abit too wierd for most but I like wierd so.
