Oh yeah, I forgot about executions; used to have nightmares about being hanged when I was a kid.

If anyones read Tom Clancy's 'Without Remorse', the way the druggie Kelly interrogates dies sounds pretty horrible, if its possible. Getting used to high pressure, then it dropping suddenly so that your blood vessels and eyeballs explode. ugh.

some of them maybe, but thet're hardly likely to happen to a normal person in the street and they are tempered a bit by always knowing he's going to escape.

Vito Corleone knifing the old geeza that killed his parents in The Godfather II was pretty gruesome, and looked bloody painful.

For those who didn't see it, the knife didn't just go in, it went in his stomach and was pulled upwards diagonally to his heart.

Messy.

No, that happened in James Bond. Forget which, but it was a Timothy Dalton one.

ooo, thats a bad one. I was quick to tell my mates about that one to "alleviate pressure"

You all know how it works! You see/read something really awful, tell someone and it gets MUCH better ;)

I haven't read them all so excuse me if someone has mentioned these -

Reservoir Dogs - Tim Roth slowly bleeding to death, you can see him losing his colour.

Things To Do In Denver When You Are Dead - shot up the arse.

Saviour - people being hit on the head with huge hammers.

Casino - the scene near the end in the corn field, the baseball bat death of Joe Pesci and his on-screen brother was sickening.

...the two snipers in the downed heli. One was running out of ammo and swapping between pistol and rifle until.."click, click" and hordes of manic locals descended on him with machetes and shit. The kind of movie death that just goes right thru you. Most movie deaths, even inventive gory ones (see any elm st/halloween/final destination flick), don't really upset me and quite often are amusing, but every now and then comes along a form of life-ending that..... I dunno, just makes you really think "whoooa what an awful way to go".

I think this is the worst for the sheer fact that it actually happened, although in real life they held out for longer. There must have been some point when they looked out at the enemy and thought they weren't going to make it and that their bodies would never be found.
Also kiss of the dragon, the move at the end with the needle is an actual acupuncture point that does exactly what it says on the tin, although its not called kiss of the dragon its name an actual method is kept secret for obvious reasons.

The scene with the head in a vice is more so IMO.

Surely not?!! That can't be real. No. I require more evidence. That's like saying Brucel Lee was killed by a secret kung fu move.

I have a particular sensitivity to deaths that none of the other characters care about. For example:

Akira - Tetsuo's girlfriend gets squished in the folds of his ever-expanding body. And NO ONE cares!

Rumble In The Bronx - struggling guy gets shoved head first into a wood chipper.

Get Carter - that woman whose name I can't remember is still locked in the boot of Carter's car when it's pushed into a river. Imagine suffocating in there at the bottom of the river, or if water seeped in till the boot was full and you drowned.

Battle Royale - Most of the deaths. But particularly the scene where the girls are in the kitchen and one of them dies from being accidentally poisoned. I thought the resulting gunfight between the other girls was just really brutal. Then that other girl jumps off the tower and kills herself. Pretty nasty little massacre all round.

Jason X - woman gets pulled through a grate when all the oxygen is being sucked from the ship. Again, no one cares.

Then the more dramatic deaths:

American History X - BITE THE CURB! BITE THE CURB! Crunch.

Braveheart - drawn and quartered. F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-FREEEEEDOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!

Worstest film ever but the bit where the bad guy injected air into the other guys vein in Vertical Limit really made me squirm.
