I came back about 3 days b4 1.5 came out.
You've been playing almost 7 months now, so really there should be not a lot of difference, imho theres maybe a few months worth of learning curve.

From the change log :
V 1.0 : 8th November 2000
Beta 1.0 : 19th June 1999

Personally speaking I only started with Beta 3.1 which was released around 16th September 1999. Beta 4 followed quickly, released 5th November 1999. That's assuming the change log is accurate of course, seems about right from my emails at the time.
