doing it in time for Diablo 3, Borderlands 2 and Aliens Colonial Marines - Diablo 3 and Borderlands do prob arent that bad system requirements wise but I want to enjoy them in their fullest capacity.. + I wanted to get away from AMD / ATI and go back to Intel / Nvidia :p

BloodOmen I don't blame you, ATI are a pain in the ass. Only have one in my laptop as I got a super good deal on it.

when I was intel/nvidia I never really had an issues and thats with 2-3 diff intel cpu's and atleast 4 nvidia cards, with amd cpu's/ati cards its either been alright or nothing but driver issues/software clashes/need to look for specific fixes etc, will not be going back to amd/ati after this thats for sure :p they're good for budget builds but thats about it.

yep I went AMD before and that will be the last time for me to, plus Nvidia seem to have had some comparable budgest cards come out to.

Nice! Is it OC'd aswell? I would be a lil concerned though regarding power consumption and the heat generated, although I assume the heat is unlikely to be an issue. I'm guessing the PSU is up to it then? I don't know anything about power draw etc. of the new gear.

Sweet! I'd love a new rig but money is tight as hell lately, I also have ideas of other things to spend on aswell, like a new MTB (Canyon Nerve AM 6.0 :D )

Temps are a little worrying like but I read GTX 580 temps can go as high as 93c under load >< which is fucking mad, friend said the cpu temp although high should be alright aswelll as it is OC'd + under heavy load there.

Checked mine this morning and its around 65c full load 45c in windows.

CPU looks ok to me, a little high but then its over clocked.

What case are you using, with what cooling?

Nah, it just went off I was like "Fuckkkkkkk" started it back up and got all these corrupted white lines across the screen just before it boots into windows :p just kept going off after that.. I was either just unlucky as hell and got a faulty card or the stock cooling on the card simply isnt good enough.

Case i'm using is http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-045-OP&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=505, every available fan slot is filled up with either 120's, 140's or 80's - it has plenty of cooling/places to exhaust the heat from.

Temps i'm getting now after putting my old card back in (ati 6850) are:

tempsidle.jpg

Thats with the CPU overclocked(despite what it says at the top of speedfan, its also not picking the rest of the case fans up) the temp1/temp2/temp3 is the ATI card, Speedfan has a hissy fit when trying to read ATI cards where as Nvidia cards it just shows a single temp.

The temps I had while idle + gtx 580 in were 41c-44c (even the cpu)

I was going to get a haf912 but I skimped out at the last minute :p this case isnt that bad tho really, the hdd draws feel flimsy/cheaply made but otherwise the build quality is good.

Forgive the wanky paint skills but this is how many fans/outlets the case has (red lines are fan/grate locations) all of the wires are neatly tucked up behind the panel on the bottom side of the motherboard so theres good airflow with minimal obstructions in the case itself :) think I just got a faulty card tbh... atleast I hope thats the case otherwise the next one will be going back aswell and I'll be looking for a card that doesnt reach the same temperature as the fucking sun :p

It's important that some blow out so you have a stream of air coming in the case and exiting. Check that the rear fans are taking air our of the case and the front ones are drawing it in, and remove as many obstructions as you can, cable ties help.

I have a cosmos S case http://www.coolermaster.com/microsite/Cosmos_S/ it's a big fucker but very well built and the cooling is first class. All the cables can be tucked away nicely.

the front ones draw in, rear and top/bottom blow out - temps atm are fine, everything idle is under 40c - underload max temp is 58-61c while playing BF3 (cpu) gfx card never goes above 50c the one I have in now (ati 6850) that GTX 580 is just a fucking monster for temps it seems, dug around abit online and people say it can go right upto 91c ¬_¬ which is just plain fucking stupid.

I surprised it all arrived and worked given that it came from Overclockers UK.

Getting a full refund for the card and getting a 7970 or 7950 instead, havent decided which yet, will prob get it from ebuyer or scan.

I didnt really want another ATI card but there is no alternative to the GTX 580 around that price and I'm not paying 680 prices.
