Well done on the Event Midgard

An event finally happens on Midgard and what happens.

First a group of idiots stand swearing at the event character, then 20 of them set about slicing him up.

Well done, first chance for decent event and roleplay and this happens :(

And before anyone comments he was Aggro, he was neutral until hit 20 times !

I thought Role Play could still exist on Midgard like it seems to on Alb, but maybe not.

nice work one killing forkylning!

He has for the last few weeks been making his way from the lake in gotar towarders a city, it might have been him the troll in gal was waiting for.

I think it was brannor that made a post on how it was to been in the event team, how it was to make an event when every body was telling you to stfu and start killing the npc before talking to them.

ROFLMAO!

The spam on AC was fantastic..... An event happens and the first thing that people do is errrr..... hit the npc.....

You've got to admit that it IS funny!

I hope that the npc totally wiped the floor with them!

Next time folks... think a bit before you resort to violence!

I am having serious pains in stomach from laughing so much.

To bad though I had been checking in forkylning each day except today and guess what happens...

Thank you though all fight hungry trolls for whipping his ass for choosing today.

Hmm, sorry to hear I missed part of an event, although it sounds like it ended bad. Damn lazerbrains, go frag some in Q3 ffs...

Oh, and the albs wasn't much better in the end of beta event actually. They tried for sure to kill the stone or whatever it was, but they didn't succeed where mids did. Sometimes mid is too successful for their own good.. ;)

argh i spent ages trying to get something out of him and samedi

btw not much of an accomplishment killing him....louise and souleater did it alone about 2 days after he appeared.

keep events away from people like the ones kharok mentioned please. the small event which me/krill/tay/tesla/kharok/silverwolf was in was fun :)

luckily no one came and ruined it

well if you make an event mob killable someone will try...
especially with the more people that know about him...
Large scale RP is not possible in DAoC , atleast not easily due to no comeback for bad actions ( no criminal status etc etc)

the more people involved the greater the chance one of them will muck things up either by accident or on purpose

Anybody remember me saying this:

Epic events, well, now we're talking. Ever make a choice that will forever alteryour realm's faction to a specific faction? Can you handle that responsibility? How about giving up a relic to a mage that needs it in a spell? Could you do it, not knowing what could happen to it? How about, killing one creature that begged for mercy, and having the dragon pay you a visit? Or, chosing not to help someone, and have a L60 assassin stalk your guild for a week or two?

From this thread.

Honestly wouldn't know...but be careful who you kill, they might not spawn again...or if they do, some part of the story may change because you killed them...

as long as the effect of someone killing a mob does not effect it for others else that is sad and silly becuase we have no way of stopping someone wounding or killing a mob...

So such an "revenge action" unless done very carefully would just upset everyone involved..even the innocent...

If some idiot killed a mob and my faction to say Dverge went from neutral to aggro and i was not even involved or even online and this faction change ment that i got killed because of it.. I would be angry with the person in question and with the event staff..

The events i have been to have been over populated and or controlled/ taken over by HIGH levelers..

Which has left me now at the stage of unless an event finds me, i will not bother to find events which is a shame, as being a roleplayer of over 20 years i love rp events. But the DAoC ones so far have left me cold..

I hear things about the smaller quiet events and they seem to work.. big events unless pure defend town fort person etc etc are doomed to have things go wrong with them due to the high chance of having people who will just kill a mob coz they can..

this is not just a midgard thing this is a online game thing

Well Khan, that is a possibility oneday I guess. Although I must say the way you say "even more" is amusing. ;)

But sadly yes. Hmm. <thinking>

Ok, I myself have killed the stupid drunken jester kobold in Camelot...by mistake...was trying to see if I could charm him, it wouldn't let me...so I tried to mezz him...and it worked...silly bugger tracked me down on the other side of Camelot... :p But, he spawned again.

Speaking from experience in smaller events, well, if the NPC I was playing was killable and someone decided to gank me, hey, I'm dead...gone, bye bye, story changes/proceeds/ends.

The possibility therefore exists that you can kill these NPC's while they are PURE NPC's. But, how do you know they are? The possibility exists that if a GM controls an NPC and you kill it, the NPC may very well not come back. I honestly can't say one way or the other as I'm speculation when it comes to Epic Events. Hell, I'm reading Noita's posts just so that I can try figure out what's going on in Midgard myself.

But, in the end, I have to admit, that the possibility of what you say does exist...but, I also think that the GM's will keep an eye on the events and should they notice someone deliberately trying to spoil it, they may step in.

You remember this one...

/gmc set_bind XXXX Dragon_spawn
/gmc force_release XXXX

Err...

Actually, we didn't try to kill the Stones until all 3 realms were 'betrayed' at the tower in Emain.

Then, with a small group and the, err... female event PC (can't remember her name) we went around killing all the Stones, with myself being the highest level there for most of it (lvl 28 Armsman).

And after heading back to Emain, we had dragged the idol back to the Alb PK, and managed to kill it, which the Mids failed to do :)

Of course, it was the Mids who started the fighting at the tower in the first place...

Who knows. Many came in peace, and retreated to regroup when we found out we were betrayed.

I spent much of the last day of beta outside Mularn, buffing the guards and the players, rezzing and healing them all as they fought off the undead horde. ;)

Hello :)

For all who are interested in the investigations, there is a thread now in Prydwen Tavern...under the title of Strange goings on in Midgard. I think I (and others) will be posting the results of our investigations there from now on.

Ah Events - I'm afraid that all event NPCs must be set to friendly for any roleplaying to happen - If it can be attacked someone will.

The main problem with events in an online game is every man and his dog turns up at the suggestion of one - to remedy this I believe a campaign of false event rumours should be staged to discourage the NPC Stalkers.

If you see an event NPC keep it quiet!

On EQ events were basically - ok we put overpowered mob x into low level zone Y - let it kill loads then get killed by the high levels who turn up and then let it drop Uber drop Z.

Hopefully we can avoid this fate.

Hibernias event

Well the Hibernia event went much better. No killing of the GMs and everyone cooperated.

Hehe - I guess with only about 6 people on the server there weren't enough people to kill it!
