Ok was playing daoc fine today in toa client as normal no problems.

Log out for a bit to watch some tv, come back to computer (which was left on all the time as useual),

when i log in daoc all my ingame text has a lagged effect - but not the 3d animation of the game. For example if i run around and stuff its ok, but if i type in the game at my normal type speed what used to happen is that the characters appear instantly - now what happens is that each character takes like ~3 seconds to appear so if i type a big sentence im waiting ages before i can press enter as it slowly moves thru each char. Also after ive typed a bit the whole game makes my computer become REALLY laggy, like if i try to click to mirc it takes like ~30 sec to swap over (useually instant since i run daoc windowed), within that 30 sec i can still see the 3d animation of the game running fine. Also sometimes my mouse will just freeze when running daoc and then suddenly move again - same with key presses such as holding shift down to move a UI window, let go of shift and it takes like 3-4 sec before the window stops moving with my cursor.

Im running a 2.4 ghz athlon, 1 gig of ddr ram @ 400 mhz, geforce 4 4600ti 128 meg - never had any problems with lag like this even when running two TOA clients at once !!

makes the game totally unplayable, any ideas as to what might be causing it?

update:

seems like if i press 2 keys at once it wont work and fucks up, like if i try to jump while holding down run key it wont jump, but when i release run key it starts jumping o_O

really weird, like i said literally played fine this morning and this problem has happened without me restarting or installing anything new or anything like that.

REbooting pc having no effect - only happens in daoc :|

Think i found the problem, after looking at my processes list in task manager i noticed an oddly named version of svchost.exe called 'svohost.exe' , if i end process on that then daoc runs fine, problem is every time i reboot the damn thing loads up again - anyone know how i can get rid of it?

I can't figure the highjack thingy out :(

It just shows me a lot of files, I don't know which ones are to be deleted and which ones should stay :/

it is a form of virus. You need to update your anti-virus which should get rid of it. It is a part of the MSblast virus. also run the updates from the windows website

Missing the process running, and yes dupe blue list sounds fishy, also you might consider if you need searchweb2 toolbar.

Progra~1 folder seems to indicate you using VERY old applications/drivers.
Go through that folder and check if you need them. (I don't believe you using a system with the old 8.3 name system.

well
i dont beleive in anti-virus software - it slows the whole damn comp down, but ill use a scanner to get rid of something if i get it etc.

with this svohost.exe thing - all i did was end process on it and remove it from c:\windows\system32 and no more problems
