First FH member to get a movie deal?

Congratulations

Wish I could say it was unexpected, but since it was being joked about in the original BBC competition thread .....

Being an eternal pessimist I cant resist asking a question or two, like whats next? Film rights are bought up all the time only for nothing to happen for a long time, if ever. Do they intend to do anything with it now, or just wait until book 3 is a hit of Harry Potter proportions? :)

I know that film rights are bought all the time, and nothing ever happens. That could STILL be the case - things always have the potential to fall through. I can't say too much at the moment, as its all confidentaility blah, but it really does seem like wheels are in motion. What's next? I've just edited the second book, and I'm working on a couple ideas at once for a third book.

I know you know that, and I know that if there anything to tell your not allowed to tell it: but I still had to ask :)

Cant be bad either way - go celebrate some more :)

Lou, absolutely fucking awesome girl... I KNEW you had it in you and I'm over the moon to see things coming out right in this world (for once... ref. all the other everything is shit threads we see)...

I'm necking a beer in your honour... please remind your fella that I asked him a long time ago to put my lads down for a UK edition each, paid by me, but sent from you;)

Iggy has his claws in the curtain in celebration.... Alfie's claws are in Mrs J's leg acting as pretend stitches after her op :)

.... and for Damini...

There was a young lady named Lou,
Who thought that her writing was poo,
But given a prod,
She turned into God,
Of writing stories just for you!

Her talent was never in doubt,
But still we did prod her and shout,
Get out there and try,
Your stories will fly,
And all of your talent will 'out'.

She did it with paper and pens,
Her efforts were with without end,
She thought up a ghost,
Much nicer than most,
And that's where I stop. Its THE END.

Well done Lou :)

Bloody hell, well done.

If it's not made for some time don't be surprised, but there are a helluvalot of people that never even get as far as the first page, let alone a publishing deal and then having the work optioned.

I just hope the book has justice done to it and is given a good cast/crew.

Should we start mentioning names for who could play the two leads? ;)

Congrats, knew I'd be right about a film/tv deal!

I just hope you got a good deal, as studios do like to rip people off! I don't just mean about money, I mean did you get at least some real control over how it's adapted (see pretty much all movie adaptations made by Uwe Boll)?

I'm guessing that the best way for us to help make the film become a reality is to just keep telling people to buy the book(s). The more sales the book(s) has the more likely a film studio is to make a film.

I'm getting a copy for my neice this Christmas. She's only 1 but I figure she'll need books to read in a few years time :)

Oh and well done lou :D

You've bought me out of my forum-observation to actually post.

Well done, Lou. Dreamworks eh? Can't be bad... very well done.

I look forward to the FH reference in book two. :)

Lou I'm so made up for you!

Shame you're not in my neck of the woods otherwise I could come and interview you all about it :)

Biggest hugs and fingers crossed for it actually making the silver screen.

Got my book, love it and can't wait for book two.

This is wicked. One minute you're skanking the voting system on BBC and the next minute you're in Hollywood!

Aww, cheers Bodhi. :fluffle:

I think the very earliest anything is likely to be seen is 2009/2010. If (if, if, if, if) it all goes to plan, animation takes am incredibly long time due to the whole drawing of each individual frame. To be honest, I don't know the industry, and I won't be playing an active role in the production of this film. Of course, if they *wanted* to fly me out to Hollywood, feed me grapes, let me swim with dolphins, and then swagger around a film set in an executive suit, then I suppose, just for them, I could, but it's someone else's project now, someone else's vision, and that's good. Given their track record with movies, they know what they are doing. The last film I made was "Dead Ted", a zombie apocolypse film involving a teddy bear, smeared in blood, being dragged around on the back of a skateboard.
