As you may or may not know, Vae and I are getting married this Saturday.....
I was fine up till now, but I am now stressing a fair bit and feeling quite overwhelmed. Does anyone have any tips to help me stress a bit less? Or can you at least tell me stories of your pre wedding times to make me feel better?

Congratulations, however its your's and your hubby-to-be's day, so let everyone else worry about it. You just have a good time and relax, if anything goes wrong you'll have a dozen other people to sort it out for you.

My wedding in three weeks. No tips. I'm stressed as hell, and Kenny is dragging his feet and acting like there is all the time in the world and soon I will snap and BREAK HIS BONES WITH A LADEL.

Smoke loads and loads of pot so time sort of blends together, just make sure you stop in time for the big day.

Dam, I feel for you, I really do! I don't think I have been too much of a Bridezilla, but there have been times when I just wanted to scream....I have stopped myself though! Just watch 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' a few times and reassure yourself that it can never be as bad as that!

Wow, you really are stressed, you spelt ladle wrong ;)

My advice would be, its only a wedding, that's a doddle, its marriage that's the stressful part!

It'll be wonderful, relax!

Personally I'm most worried about what packaging they're going to put my bride in to get her from Thailand.

I was fine the wife was freaking out, I assume that is normal behaviour on wedding days.

Funny stories? not really got one but had a superb day and managed to get my speech off infront of 300 people without dying... Actually saying that it was musing to see my best man make good use of the free drinks at the wedding table because he was so nervous abuot the irish not being able to understand his geordie accent..

Good luck on Saturday and I wish you both a lifetime of pleasure!!!

First time I was Best Man I tried to get lubricated before the ceremony because I was so nervous, several pints had no effect at all because I was so keyed up. Made my speech, adrenaline switched off and was pissed as fart about 10 seconds later.

At my wedding we had a free bar. My (ex)wife's mother and her boyfriend had a blazing row and he ended up passed out in a bush in the nearby park (Holland Park) with a stash of free bacardi and cokes he'd liberated from the bar, and my ex's uncle had to be carried home. (The final bar tab was, no word of a lie, twelve feet long).

One of my friends was having so many fights with various interfering family members before his wedding that his doctor put him on the happy pills; which didn't work too well with a pre-wedding pint. Cue my friend collapsing in an undignified heap at the altar. They ended up getting married sat-down, Greek Orthodox style.

Another of friends managed to deeply offend both the bride and groom's families in his Best Man's speech by revealing the Groom's history of occasional drug use and his unfortunate incontinence when pissed. It was fucking hilarious, but the bride's mother in particular was so livid she chased the Best Man out of the reception.

So, nothing to worry about at all then.

Our bar fell through a week before our wedding btw so we had no alcohol other than wine from the meal. All our friends brought down 24packs of beer and gave them to the caterers who then served from an impromptu bar, free to everyone.

Surprisingly it worked out better than having a paid bar and we had a blast in the evening...

until my mates got me drunk and then told me they'd left a bottle of glenlivet in our room.

I gave them the key not thinking anything about it.

When we went to bed, our room was completely upside down and the bed was filled with confetti and little plastic love hearts and stars.

DON'T GIVE THE KEYS TO YOUR ROOM TO ANYONE. LEAST OF ALL YOUR HUSBAND WHO WILL MOST LIKELY (like me) BE PRONE TO PISSEDNESS AND BRIBERY BY ALCOHOL.

Other than that, try not to sweat it too much - don't get too hung up about the details and concentrate on seeing your friends and having fun with the love of your life, or your partner ;)

We're the only ones staying in our hotel, except for james grandparents so I think we're fairly safe on that one. One of my slighter crazier Polish Great Uncles has a false leg....which he is in the habit of removing and leaving places when he gets pissed....so that could be interesting.
My fathers speech is likely to embarrass me, 'cos thats what he has always loved to do....never nastily, but I blush SO easily and SO badly he can never resist.
I'm very curious as to what Vae's best man is going to say.....he's a bit unpredictable like that!

I was very ill on our wedding, man flu of the highest order.

At the reception I was terribly drunk due to not eating anything for a few days before the massive amounts of beer. At around 10ish my nan asked me to take her to her room as she was ready for bed, Samm handed me the camera to take back to our room after I had took nan.

Took nan then went to our room with the camera, looked at the bed and though I would have 5 minutes, 3 hours later I was woken by the wife standing over the bed screaming at me "WHERE THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN??!!?" she said, I had missed the major part of the night. There was a rumour going round that last time I was seen I was taking my nan to her room, everyone thought I had ended up in bed with my nan :(

Double grats to all those who are about to get spliced :p

At least you dont have to worry about making a speech ladies!

I believe the Mrs was a tad nervous judging by her managing to get a small burn on her forehead using heated tongs as she got ready...

The Best Man/Chief Bridesmaid (who subsequently got hitched) filled our luggage with every variety of condom (which we didnt notice till we got on the plane) and we stupidly asked them to housesit.

We got back after the honeymoon and when we went to bed found they had poured about 2 kilos of rice under the bedsheet plus more condoms!

I thought it was a bit lumpy :p

It was truly magical. We really couldn't have asked for a better day. SO FABULOUS. And now, in 2 hours, we are leaving to go to the airport to have a 10 day holiday in Mauritius! YAY! See you in in 10 days time!
