ok, I am trying to make use of my Blueyonder webspace. I have activated the site

http://www.calaen.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

I have set up Cuteftp so that when I open it it logs onto my site for me, however I cant seem to ever biew any of the files I upload to my space.

If i upload stuff to my space will it show me a link or something to the files I have uploaded?

Any help would be appreciated. I have read the help guides from the bY site but
still get this problem :-(

Thanks in Advance

Stick up a file you know the name of and look to see if it's there. Make sure you're in the right directory on the server.

You mean a directory listing? I think most webhosts have this already if you don't have an index page set? and then enter your address eg. penguin.webspace.com/ (Afraid i don't know how to make one myself)

An index file to show site contents can simply be a page containing a list. The list can have hyperlinks to whichever files you want people to connect to.

Sounds to me like you might like to use a portal or something similar - or even a forum. Takes a lot of the stress out of developing a site and can be a lot of fun - you can also talk to people who are doing the same thing.

To create an index file open a html editor - or notepad - and simply save the file as index.htm or index.html - or even index.php. Put a sentence in it. Something like: Hello, this is my website. Might be a good idea if you alter your windows folder options to show file extensions first. Open a folder - Tools - View - unclick 'Hide extensions for known file types. You might have to do this to easily alter file extensions. Send the file upto your server (root and not in a directory). When you type in your website address you should get the message up on the screen.

I have a list of website developing tools on my own forum:

Website Tools

By the way if you didn't know the above link to my forum is ofcourse a hyperlink. This is what you can use on your index file to link to other pages on your website ;) .

I ain't pushing my own site really. Been developing it for a bit of fun but fed up of doing shopping crap so now going to move it over to Abandonware and Software so there will be lots of info about site developing etc.

Go forrit :) .

Take a look at the page below. Click on 'Webdesigning Tools - HTML Guides'. You should find how to go about things in there :) .
