A collegue showed me this web address. Apparently its been feactured in the papers and if you register you may get 5-10p discount on forecourt prices. Sorry if this is a Glen but I couldnt find it posted anywhere.

I cant see a catch apart from occasional spam (but thats what spam filters are for)

I wish I'd thought of this. Are there any clues which supplier? There's a BP up the road from me but the nearest Shell is miles away.

Trouble is that theres no information on how the cuts will be achieved. Since fuel duty is fixed, and the VATman needs paying (except by me hehe), I don't see the margins being cut by the amounts stated.

The only thing I can think is that they're going to cut petrol profits completely, and rely on garage sales and promotions, including sending all kinds of guff through your letterbox. Although personally I wouldn't mind, as I'd still be saving money.

I imagine that it would be a short term thing, like Sainsburys knocking 5p a litre off for shopping there. If you could make it back by volume sales or more likely through the forecourt shops..

Unlikely, as this report says, oil companies get very little profit from forecourt sales.
