Does anyone know how to disable that bloody click sound when you click a link in I.E? It's doing my bloody head in. I'll have no smart-arse comments about using Firefox either. I actually prefer I.E.

Start > Control Panel > Sounds
Somewhere in there is a sound for clicking links in IE. Turn it on or off, it's your choice.

Personally, I have all system sounds disabled. No "dings", "chimes" or "notify" sounds at all... it's pleasant. :)

No dice. Already have all sounds disabled in control panel. First thing I do when I reinstall after a format. Next.

Running XP Pro by the way.

For vista and seven its in sounds under Windows Explorer, Start Navigation. It uses the "Windows Start Navigation.wav" I'd imagine its in the same place for XP but can't check from current location as only have access to vista/seven machines.

Are you sure you have disabled "Start Navigation" sounds?

Or you can try and edit your registry:
1.Start the Registry Editor
2.Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ AppEvents \ Schemes \ Apps \ Explorer \ ActivatingDocument
3.Click on the + sign left of the ....ActivatingDocument
4.Delete .Current
5.Also HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ AppEvents \ Schemes \ Apps \ Explorer \ Navigating
6.Click on the + sign left of the ....Navigating
7.Delete .Current or .Default
