The 54-year-old, a former prison guard who was jailed for three years in 2004 for "illegally petitioning" the central government about corruption in his hometown,

more "peons for free" than "peons for hire" then

but seriously
its really frightening, and at the same time really not that suprising. Mostly just reinforces the point that most people "over here" dont know how good theyve got it

Not surprising this happens in China, fuck in the US they have black inmates pick cotton by hand in the fields owned by the prison for a few cents an hour. Yeah, they've pretty much re-introduced slavery - anybody surprised?

Aye, is it any wonder they started doing it tho? the annual turnover for gold sellers has to be high (not the workers but the actual people that own the companies) talking millions/billions here (and thats not exaggerated) it also wouldnt surprise me if most of the gold farming companies are owned/ran by triads either.

To be fair, there are good arguments to atleast morally acknowledge people that buy gold that are farmed by individuals in poor countries, raising their way of life. Compare that to for example real raw materiel farmers/workers in such countries.

On the other side, there are slave camps of exploited people that are forced to play around the clock for shit pay in countries such as china, as mentioned in the article.

Not to mention that china itself is by no means a free country. Both the local and state wide corruption is rampant. If you pay a local official or police chief, he can probably look through the fingers on everything. Not only online game slavery.

As it is now, it's really our fault that it is like that. It is the players in the west that actually buy the gold and support slavery conditions. Most don't care though.
