I am playing Warcraft 3 Tower Defense with my brother and I wanted to find some nice Maze designs to make our games last a bit longer.

The first screenshot is something I knocked up in Excel to make life a little easier. The 2nd screenshot is my idea (I stole it off a rl buddy who played years ago)

This second image is the design I try to use as often as possible. The beauty of it is the mobs run round and round into the middle, then repeat the same pathing to get out. Ideally I need to make it longer so the towers get the maximum amount of DPS.

When I came home last night, you wouldn't make love to me. You went fast asleep, you wouldn't even talk to me. You say i'm so crazy, coming home intoxicated, I said I just wanna love ya.

Haha Ez I like your skills but I'd never fit that on a map :-(

Ezteq, that looks like a shield-shaped hatch opened into someone's bowels. And you showed that to children??? I am appalled! :eek2:

Finally something I am good at being requested :) Several errors in your maze, as you seem to be making a 2x2 path, which is bad, and you are making straight lines, which creeps walk along quiter faster than diagnol lines where they have to turn all the time...

Your maze was actually originally designed for the Naga Race in Shango Tower Wars, where they needed to focus the creeps into a deadcenter where they could place 2 melee towers to finish them off, just if you was curious. But seeing how it is very old, there has been done many improvements over the years

Hmmm, how to make a quick show of a good maze... got a maze design I often use in TTW where the towerlimit is 65, personally calling it the spiderweb:

The space in TTW is 20 wide = 10 towers blocks

anyway, plotted it into Excel and made a jpeg of it.

Blue = Towers, number indicate build order
Grey/Black = Run path for mobs, black is highlighted spots where mobs are slowed down due to having to turn
Red is the last 66th building, where you sell building 24, replace it with 3x3 HQ and then build the 66th tower to complete maze (you actually have to build HQ after 35 towers to increase building cap, but thats a minor point)

Maze designed for Nerubian in TTW, but awesome for others.

With Nerubian, tower 1 through 30 should be spiderlings (melee with slow) and rest Nerubians (heavy duty range), Broodmother (perma slow aura right upon entering maze) should be place on 9 or 10 and Queen (33% chance to kill enemies below 33% HP) on 66th spot for maximum exposure.

Enjoy

EDIT: Oh, btw, raging Tower Wars champ here (win rate about 80% in TTW and LTW) and fanatic when it comes to mazing, so if you tell me the dimensions of the specific map you are playing, I can give you some more accurately working mazes for that map, also say which, if any, limitations the map got to number of towers and if it is straighforward A to B mazing TD or if it is more like Gem TD with A to B to C to D to E to F to G to H (Actual number of points in Gem TD) mazing as such aspects changes the games a lot

Also, it sounds like you are playing something like Shango Tower Wars by your description of the maze, like they have to go in and touch 1 point and then run out from that same point again, in which case I would need to know the dimensions of the space they are supposed to touch (Shango it is 9x9 iirc) and if it is located in a corner (only 2 sides to shield) or center (4 sides to shield)

Haha iceforge you're rather good at this!

At the moment I downloaded 40mb worth of maps so im playing different ones each night. I will make a note of the good ones which require mazes and consult you :)

Rep inc if I can :p

Will clearly recommend getting online and playing TWs after a while.

TDs you get fixed waves of creeps coming running down towards you, as you should hopefully know.

a TW is 2 teams (or more) against each other. Every X seconds you get Y Income. You then have to split your income between building towers to defend (like in TDs) and sending monsters to the enemies. Usually, sending monsters will increase Y, making your income bigger and bigger at a cumulatative(sp?) rate. It is much more strategical and it gives 1 good thing that you'll definitely like: You can look how others maze! In some TWs you just make the enemies loose lives if your monster gets past his defenses and thus can kill the other team over time, while other is more long, where life is leeched (you get a life for taking a life)

If going for TWs, I recommend going for LTW (Line Tower Wars) first. In that TW, each player has their own lane and is on a team with only themselves.
It is very simple to build a mazing line, unfortunately it does not provoke good mazing, at it is usually just as good in LTW to just build the standard crossing lines to make them go left to right to left to etc., but it learns you to micromanage between building and sending, which will be very important before moving on to team based mpas, where you teammates will be frustrated if you don't know what you're doing

I've done a few where you make a maze, then spend gold sending mobs to your enemies to generate more income. Like those ones.

Line Tower Wars, will have a look for that one :)

Once you know the concept, the best one currently is TTW, very balanced and offers a wide variety of different strategies in both regards of how to send and how to build.

TTW = Tropical Tower Wars, but map is named TTW as well, current version is iirc 5.41, downloadable from epicwar.com/downloads like most other WC3 maps

You need to be 6 people to play TTW through, so if you only do LAN, it might be hard
