So government tells government that government must meet the cost of failure by government, so government can make it appear it won't ask for money from taxpayers then?![]()
Treasury threatens Defra with £4bn bill if Thames Water nationalised
Exclusive: Treasury threat an example of ‘scare tactics’ to help force through private sector deal, sources suggestwww.theguardian.com
Yes. Apart from it won't ask, but will spend it then take it. (Or make us pay through higher bills that it forces). So government tells government that government must meet the cost of failure by government, so government can make it appear it won't ask for money from taxpayers then?
I wish we would just let it sink, buy up it's assets at a penny to the pound.I'm not sure it'll manage to avoid temporary nationalisation before that 10 years is up:

Thames Water 'extremely stressed', warns boss amid huge losses
The company's future remains uncertain as it posts losses of £1.65bn for the year to March.www.bbc.co.uk

Fucking twats, we are an island yet still after fucking years of complaining still suffer drought induced water restrictions. All utility companies should be forced to invest a minimum percentage of all profit back into the infrastructure or something like that. Bet the bosses don't worry about using the hosepipe to water their acres of garden.

I mean, we could fix the fucking leaks.Climate change & no infrastructure, great combo.

Ofwat to be abolished as ministers look to create new water regulator
Move follows intense criticism of utilities over sewage spills, shareholder payouts and ballooning debtswww.theguardian.com
How do you think that? It's been very clear that spare cash has been going directly into the pockets of shareholders.funding for improvements will be easier to get when it isn't in competition with all other public services for funding.

Not only that, exactly the same amount of spare cash that would have been the required funding.
There also can be no competition, so your idea about "competetive" is ridiculous. It's not like you're competeing from water suppliers. It's a natural monopoly - and why other countries that flirted with utilities privatisation have backed out - successfully.
You only have to look at Scottish water - which didn't privatise when England did - and they have lower bills, they're unmetered, and they perform better on all of the metrics - debt, sewage discharges, water cleanliness & environmental performance. The only thing England is equal on is the amount of shit in our drinking water is about the same.
Ah yes totally forgot about that.Ofwat still going?
Just remembered something when I saw this thread. Outside my brother's property is his stopcock. It has been leaking enough water that there is a river of water flowing down the road. He spoke to his water company about a month ago and the plan of action - they will attend to the leak sometime in October (cannot remember the date).
Is there not a number/website you can report the water company for wasting water and money.
The flow is that strong that the cover does not sit properly on the hole. Cunts.
... but what about the water, you perv!and yes it is still gushing out.
Fuck sake I have no water.
