Warrior specs

I would really appreciate if you guys could help out a newbie warrior. Just reached lvl 5, and wanna know what specs/skills setup would be best as i advance. I saw another thread like this for savages where ppl mostly seemd to prefer 49 savagery 44 weapon and rest in parry. What are your preferred setup for warrior?

Specs most important but if you have time pls post good skills to train too.

Thanks a bunch

There's the standard 50 weapon/ 50 shield/ 28 parry. A nice spec.

Others:

50 Weapon
50 Parry
28 shield

I had this spec originally, and whilst it did seem to work better PvE wise than 50 shield, it absolutely sucked for rvr (more so than shield).

44 Weapon
44 Parry
44 Shield

Very nice spec. You give up the last shield/ weapon style, but you make up for it by having awesome defense. Brutalise isn't that important if you run around with a a shammy kind enough to give you an end regen. If you're not going 50 weapon, may I suggest you use hammers. The 50 hammer style is 100% useless, whereas you get an excellent taunt style (provoke) plus a few other goodies (lambast, conquer, sledgehammer).

Finally is the spec which I chose:

46 Hammer
42 Shield
44 Parry

This is the best spec I've played with my warrior. It really is a PvE god and he doesn't fair too badly in RvR. Still have okish damage, and have excellent defensive capabilities. Plus you still get slam with this setup. A warrior without at least 42 in shield in my opinion, is not as effective as he/ she could be. Slam really is that good.

One more thing to think about if you've decided on a warrior. Many will tell you that you need 50 in weapons or shield. This is simply not true. You will not be a beserker... your overall aim is not to cause massive damage each hit (and you rarely will, even with 50); like it or not, a warriors best offense is his defense. Block/ parry are still borked to an extent in RvR, but don't let that stop you trying out a less taken spec. with the 4* in all three of your main skills layout, you can easily take all of them well above 50 with + to items (I have 46 (+9) hammer, 42 (+12) shield and 44 (+12) parry). Add to that the fact I have MoB 2, MoP2, and aug dex2 (plus other abilities that don't help my blocking/ parry) and he really is a defense monster.

I can solo red cons most of the times, oranges all of the time and quite a few yellows at a time. Coupled with a great shammy, I've happily hacked away at purple cons (Chronic Knights, Nightmares, etc) all night long. Purps take some time, but it still shows you how good PvE wise a warrior is.

You will have immense difficulty soloing in RvR whichever spec you choose though. No speed or effective ranged attacks make you a prime target for anything other than a soloing enemy.

as mentioned above

50 weapon
50 shield
28 parry

My warrior wich was my first higher lvl char is the worst gimp as i didnt know much of the game and put more in parry than shield.
Only advice i can give you is, dont do same mistake as i did ;)

1)

50 axe/sword/hammer
50 shield
28 parry

or..

2)
50 axe/sword/hammer
42 shield
39 parry

For RvR, never ever have lower weapon spec than 50. 44 and below is just crap imo.

Why do you say that? The difference in damage output between 44 and 50 is negligable (diminishing returns), and your weaponskill won't be much lower (and can easily be capped if you run with a decent shaman/ healer). With good crafted weapons 99%/ MP, you will hardly tell the difference. Again, if you want to do heavy damage, you're better off rolling a zerk.

50 weapon is a very viable spec, but it is definately not neccesary for a warrior whose best capability is defense.

As I find this true you forgot to mention one thing.. We have the ability to do BIG damage except from in zergs, zergs = find a caster, guard, intercept and slam away untill dead and let the others do the dmg...

Using swords atm and having 50 in that skill (total 64 /+14 w.RR and items) I find the combination slam - ragnarok (L50 sword style) highly devastating.. can't beat a good 500+ dmg hit and the surprise when they thought warriors were gimps when you land that blow ;) But.. this is mostly used in smaller RvR and that's how I mostly rvr :)

Figure out what type of RvR you like the best and then spec accordingly :) (I'm 50w 50s 28p atm with +14 in all skills atm)

This is mostly the end spec discussion, but since being L5 I'd give you the advice of always having your weapon spec at your level and divide the rest between parry/shield as you like.. you'll figure the rest out later when getting to know your warrior :)

I use 50 axe, 42 shield and 39 parry and im happy with it.

Sometimes been thinking about switching to sword but I dont know if there's a big difference. I would probably just be really confused because I have to learn all the styles all over again. :D
