Okay, well I was on a 80% warning.
Now TdC decided he would like to bump that up by 19% which means I'm on 99% warning What exactly does that mean?

and if I get to 100% do I get a prize? (I fear that the prize for 100% is a ban)

Well i got an 80% warning about a year ago in Camlann Section, was 10% more then the others got, wasn't particually bothered.

Got the extra 19% for asking here if anyone knew where I could find a certian episode of a show my GF watches, O.D replied with a link to a Torrent Site and I got bumped up.

Ah, those old warning do stick around for quite a while.

If you get a 100%, i think it sticks a ban on you until it gets cleared. Not sure.

Maybe you can get that old 80% cleared by Jubjub or some other mod if you ask nicely.

Read the code of conduct then... you were lucky to not be banned for a while. Being on 99% means no more bad stuff or a ban of some sort will definitely ensue....

Belive it or not I've read the code of conduct, but like alot of people I made the post randomly and didn't take it into account.

I don't plan to do anything else 'bad' I just wanted to know what warnings where for and wanted to find some answers, that I have so this thread can now be closed.

Thing that 'concerns' me is the fact that other people who got the 80% warning at the same time as me have had there's reset where as I havn't no big deal though.

boohoo it does seem the whole warning system is totally random and what % you get for being a bit naughty depends on the time, place and what mod is dealing with the situation. could use a little more thought imo

Umm...well...that's kinda how the legal system works in a democracy, why not in a dictatorship?

Im guessing the mod in question was acting on:
"All board users agree not to post any material that is protected by copyright, trademark or other proprietary right without the express permission of the owners of said copyright, trademark or other proprietary right. Especially portraying such work as your own. This is otherwise known as, "RIPPING". Rippers are not permitted here, and if you are caught stealing others work you will be banned"

But links to torrents arent copyrighted material as has been proven time and time again by the mediaindustries inability to escalate legal action against sites such as the piratebay and other torrent sites. Torrents are just pointers and contain no copyrighted material in and of themselves and hosting the torrent itself is perfectly fine from a legal standpoint. Linking to a torrent hosted at another machine and domain is even less incriminating.

Ofc, if the operators of Freddyshouse feel that they dont want links to torrents on their forum that is perfectly fine and within their rights but then they should, in the interest of clarity, rewrite this part in the guidelines/rules to state clearly that torrents and links to torrents of copyrighted material arent allowed on the forums. And no its not semantics, its legal fact here in Sweden and many other countries (not sure about the UK) - and since this is a multinational forum a lot of people frequenting it might not interpret the text to mean that torrents are a nono.

Wasn't saying it's a dictatorship as a bad thing. It's a good dictatorship, the one where you know the mods COULD do what they want, and shoot you down and stick you up on a whim...but won't 'cause them be smart and stuff. Freddys mods are tuff. Tuff, but fair

ah, Nate, how nasty you must think we are. I suppose you pointing at Jup is my fault really: I am known to be lenient, and I prefer to have people discover for themselves that they are in the wrong with perhaps only a little prompting from me. This does have the ability to make things confusing when you're used to other mods, I agree.
However. Jup is a supermod and all-round nice guy who could have overturned the way I handled things at any time without a word of complaint from me. Any mod could have done so, had they chosen to disagree with my handling of things. Gotrag may be lucky to not be banned but that's up to how he acts on the forums tbh, and the mods have no influence on what he will post. Believe it or not but us mods do not get a kick out of banning people who made a booboo, and often will go somewhat out of our way to keep the user on the forums. Sadly there are people who just don't seem to get with the program and they will end up gone, but that won't be because the mods didn't try.

At least, that's my take on the situation.

About the general discussion here, i'm one of those guys who has had only one ban/warning and that was a fresh three day, 100% whacking of my browsing privilages.

When i f*ck up, i f*ck up good.

But usually i tend to think like the mods, which keeps me in check/correct my booboos fast *looks around* But noone tell Jubjub THAT'S the reason
