In all my life, I've never heard 'simply' imply 'simple' referring to dumb, its not grammatically sound. As it goes, it was used as an alternate to 'just' - which portrayed that the funniest yet least impressive thing about the image was the spelling of can't.

As for the spelling of can't looking like a name or object, in the context, thats not a inherently bad thing, as its the subject material of the message.

ps. I'm utterly shocked that a CS thread has ascended into literacy conversation - something which most CS players arguably lack.
